Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on June 28, 2023This is a cute rest area/campground that is FREE (donations accepted). It is a little difficult determining where to park if you are an motor home towing an RV, but we found a path that indicated where we should park. Our site had a nice new picnic table and shelter.
Verizon worked well. We got 4 over the air TV stations. We heard an occasional airplane, but nothing major.
At the time of our stay (Sept 25, 2016), the road that is rest area is on is totally tore up. You are driving on dirt to get to and from the rest area. Hopefully they will be done soon.
If you need to stay somewhere for a night and dry camping isn't an issue, this place works. They will let you stay up to 14 days.

We stayed at this place last minute and ended up staying for seven days. Turns out the fair was this week so we saw the rodeo and a couple races. The kids loved it! The park is large plenty of space, picnic tables, flushing toilets, water, and trash. All these were helpful for a long stay. I did find a place to recycle cardboard across the street it’s a plastic bottles downtown. The laundromat was great! The Albertson’s downtown is great for groceries! We also took the kids to Judith Peak on Hey rock hard for quartZ Crystals. This was recommended by someone else the campsite. They also recommended that we go hiking at Crystal Lake there’s ice caves there as well. There is a dumpsite 15 minutes west at eddies corner that’s only three dollars. Another camper here told me that there’s a dumpsite downtown as well depending on which way you’re headed.

We stayed here for an overnighter on the way west. Sites are not really defined, so I just parked along side a picnic table. There were about a dozen spots occupied, with room for plenty more. Nice, grassy park. We didn't check out the bathrooms. About the only negative thing was that we were next to a guy who was obviously living there, which I didn't mind, but he did run an open frame generator for a few hours that was quite annoying. The few people I talked to were friendly. The place was obviously well cared for.

We pulled in at 8:30pm. There was still a lot of room. Nothing fancy, but clean, neat and quiet with flush toilets and garbage. No defined sites, just pull out on the grass. We left a $10 donation in the donation box. Well worth it and an easy stop for a night. We were driving eastbound. The area is a Kiwanis rest area on the right side of the road on the east side of town

We stopped here for an night on our way from T. Roosevelt NP to. Glacier NP. It turned out to be a nice place to overnight. No defined spaces so we just found a place to pull off the asphalt onto the grass. It is adjacent to an airport but it was quiet. There were a variety of units from vans to larger Class A’s like us. The downtown area was not far away and had a variety of food options and a good food store. Quiet night and we left fairly early in the morning. Left a donation for the upkeep of the park. Would stay there again if. We were passing through.

Stayed here 2.17.20 for the night. It is down the street from actual campground but you can't miss it with the row of rv's. Nothing fancy but a great place to park and sleep if you are self contained. Airport noise not an issue. Can't beat free either!

Stopped for a single night but decided the place was worthy of 2 for a good rest while driving from AK to Maine. Rest area is closed but there is a water pump available and a grocery store across the street. A neighbor even had pizza delivered to his site. What more do you want? It’s right on the road and up against the airport fence but I’m not a light sleeper so no issues here. Nice concrete picnic tables and some have roofs as well. Because of the open view from the road I feel safe leaving my pop up and going out to hike and explore with my dogs.

Stayed here in May 2021. Donation only city camping. Covered Picnic tables and garbage cans are provided. The rest rooms are super clean with soap and paper towels. There is a water spigot so water is available.
Supermarket across the street. Some Highway noise but not bad. Please be courteous to you neighbors and donate some money into the box in front of the restrooms. No power or sewer.

We took a break in this little community. We are usually on a tear to go east or go west, yet through here. This time we paused, drive along the creek out to the Trout Hatchery. Explored the gorgeous old homes, ate at a few more places. All boondocking in the sunshine by the historic airport.
Cell and data is terrible. No work from this site.

This is a great place to pull in and unwind for the evening. We found spacious grassy sites that border a secondary airport completed by the Corp of Engineers just one year after Pearl Harbor and used for B-17 training. It was entertaining to watch the handful of planes come and go. While no charge to camp, donations are accepted. Clean flush toilets. Thank you, Kiwanis!
