Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on November 22, 2023Trout Season starts in Missouri on March 1, and most of the spaces in Bennett Spring State Park are filled with excited anglers. After the opening rush subsides a bit, the real camping season gets going in earnest on April 15, when all the campgrounds open - the water is turned off to a couple of the sites until the real danger of a hard freeze is past.
Bennett Spring has five campgrounds - Campground 1 is on the lower level, near the Spring Branch and the Niangua River, and are level, paved, full hook-up sites. It is open year-round. Campgrounds 2 & 3 are up the hill behind Campground 1 and are either electric 30A sites or primitive. Some, in campground 2 are adjacent "family sites".
Campgrounds 4 & 5 are farther up the hill yet. The sites in 4 are all 30A electric, while campground 5 is a combination of 30A electric and primitive.
The park boasts a half-dozen hiking trails ranging from short, stream-side walks to a 5-hour trek down the Natural Tunnel Trail. Stop by the Nature Center for trail maps and further information. There are excellent displays explaining how the Ozark spring system was formed, as well as teh history of the area and the Depression-era CCC origins of many of the structures in the park.
There is a park store for basics, snacks, souvenirs and information for fishermen. Cabins are also available at Bennett Spring. Information available on the website or at the store.

Very nice state park. You can tell it had a recent forest fire but it all is growing back. Laying there at night you can hear the owls. And in the morning the birds and wood peckers.
Very nice place if you’d like to fly fish or kayak tons of camping sites. Restrooms and showers located around the park.
Free WiFi in the park and campground if needed.

Gorgeous setting. Perfect campsite.
Wish we would be staying longer to explore fishing, and other areas.
Internet 2 to 3 bars ... enough to hotspot my computer and use phone.

Large State park with 5 loops, decent space in between sites, wooded, with typical state park amenities. There is a trout hatchery to walk around, nature center, restaurant, lots of fisherman to watch, playground, picnic tables set on a gorgeous spring fed river. We’d absolutely stay again. The campground filled up on the weekend but was quiet after about 8pm.

We didn't have much time here, it was a stop over. Def. on our list to visit again.
Volunteers were super nice. The other campers were friendly. Of our 4,000mi trip, this was the busiest location.
Kind of a long drive from the interstate, but super quiet and the river was amazing.

We enjoyed four pleasant evenings in Campground #1 during the last week of 2023. There were only four or so other units, so plenty of elbow room.
The shower house and bathroom were open and heated. They were both clean and well maintained.
There were quite a few fishermen participating in the opportunity for catch-and-release of trout. The park store was also open, though the restaurant was not open.
We did a lot of walking on all the park's trails and also walked up the hill to see the other campgrounds. Those other campgrounds are all currently closed. All sites were wooded and looked very pleasant and if they were open, we would prefer those over campground #1 during other times of the year. We enjoyed a First-Day Hike on January 1st led by the park superintendent.

Very nice campground. Had excellent cell signal and wifi in our site. Very clean. They advertise they have a pool, but is was torn out a couple years ago. We were just there this past weekend for Memorial weekend and they were pretty full.

Great Missouri State Park Campground. Trout fish hatchery and cold water springs. Good food in the restaurant. Plenty of trees on the grounds, although tree coverage is a bit thin in the 50 amp campground. Easy to park in the level pull through site. Excellent t-mobile signal.

We enjoyed our stay. Crowded and noisy on weekends but not too bad. Bathrooms old and clean, good washing machines, friendly staff and the springs were very pretty. We camped in a class B.
