“150 years of Iron City beer excellence”
In 1861, German immigrants Augustus Hoeveler and John Miller partnered together in Pittsburgh, Pa., to brew Iron City Beer. These two entrepreneurs no doubt had success in mind, but they never could have envisioned creating a beer that would become the flagship brand of the Pittsburgh Brewing Company and a 150-year regional institution. Later, they were joined by Edward Frauenheim and Leopold Vilsack, who would eventually take over the brewery and help it to grow into the Pittsburgh Brewing Company. Through the Civil War, two World Wars, Prohibition, The Great Depression, and all the challenges and triumphs within the region, Pittsburgh Brewing Company has been serving quality beer to the city of Pittsburgh and beyond. Iron City, I.C. Light, and the Pittsburgh Brewing Company family of beers are now brewed in nearby Latrobe, PA, but the company remains deeply rooted in the traditions and values that are unique to our city and its people.
Thanks for the tip! I've updated the location and information.
The head office is on Liberty Ave in PGH, but the brewery is in Latrobe, PA (former home of Rolling Rock beer)
