• CN Tower, Toronto • Willis Tower (formerly Sears), Chicago • Stratosphere, Las Vegas • Space Needle, Seattle The Stratosphere Las Vegas (formerly Vegas World) is a hotel, casino, and tower located on Las Vegas Boulevard just north of the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The property's signature attraction is the Stratosphere Tower, the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States, and the second-tallest in the Western Hemisphere, surpassed only by the CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario. It is the tallest tower west of the Mississippi River and also the tallest structure in Las Vegas and in the State of Nevada. The hotel is a separate building with 24 stories, 2,427 rooms and an casino. The Stratosphere is owned and operated by American Casino & Entertainment Properties. While the traditional definition of the Strip excludes the Stratosphere, it is often included in travel guides as a Strip attraction. Using this alternate definition, the Stratosphere is the northernmost of the major Strip resorts, and is the only Strip hotel actually located within the City of Las Vegas.
We stayed at the Strat Hotel for the 4th of July 2022 and decided to go to the observation deck at dusk to watch the fireworks. Not only was this an incredible (and slightly terrifying) experience, the views of the life below in Vegas was incredible. Although, at this unbelievable height the fireworks seemed small and distant, they sparkled everywhere in addition to the magnificent lights of the city. We were all impressed with the thrill rides on the edge of the tower, but certainly not brave enough to try them ourselves! Once the crowds started clearing, we were able to find a comfortable couch within the Stratosphere to sit and enjoy the night lights and take in the view. We arrived a bit late, but there is otherwise a restaurant, gift shop and bar to enjoy. The elevator ride was unexpectedly fast, and everyone we met that attended to the services were all amazing.
We booked dinner at Top of The World for Christmas Eve and were not disappointed. It is an older building but maintained well. The restaurant is on the 109th floor and it took my breath stepping off the elevator. You sit on the dining floor to eat and that platform turns. The food was good and the staff nice.
