Downtown Las Vegas is arguably a more laid-back, gritty part of town than the glitzy Strip. At its heart is the Fremont Street Experience, a year-round party that features light shows, live music, and restaurants. For those brave enough to try it, the SlotZilla zip line gives a bird’s-eye view of Fremont Street’s casino-lined, indoor-outdoor experience, with the added thrill factor of soaring high above the crowds.
“Legendary casinos, free entertainment, & old-fashioned gambling”
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas...except maybe if you pee yourself while on a zipline through the city 77 feet above the pavement. You don't forget something like that. SlotZilla, Vegas's first zipline experience has just opened. "Fliers" climb a 12 story slot machine (because ziplining across Sin City could be a gamble...on whether or not you'll lose your lunch), are harnessed up, and then take off over the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas's Fremont Street Experience mall . Ziplines in cities aren't exactly common, and there's no better city to see from that high up— they're even open into the wee hours of the morning, so you can see the mall all lit up in its neon glory. They've also got a "zoom line" coming soon— riders are strapped into a harness "Superman-style" and sent careening across the sky. Anyone that's willing to do that must be, in my opinion, some sort of superhero, right? -Roadtrippers The Fremont Street Experience (FSE) is a pedestrian mall and attraction in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The FSE occupies the westernmost 5 blocks of Fremont Street, including the area known for years as "Glitter Gulch," and portions of some other adjacent streets. The attraction is a barrel vault canopy, 90 ft high at the peak and four blocks, or approximately 1500 ft, in length. You are inside the world-famous Golden Nugget casino. Walk across Fremont Street and you are in poker heaven at Binion's, with world famous shrimp cocktail waiting for you down the block at the 100-year old Golden Gate. Legendary casinos, free entertainment, old-fashioned gambling hospitality – this is the vintage Vegas of the Fremont Street Experience. Some say it's almost intimate. You may even run into one of the casino owners while you sit at the blackjack table.
so much fun, if you drive to down town you will pay for parking but not much we parked in the lot that brings you up right on to Freemont. first hour free second hour $2.00 max for the day $8.00
Go at night when everything is all lit up, it's like a giant party. The coolest thing was that you can go ziplining down the entire street above all the people, I didn't do that but it was so cool to look up and see people zooming past. There's tons of people dressed up to try and get you to take your picture with them, be careful because some of them if they spot you taking their picture will demand you pay them. It can be a bit trashy but this is Las Vegas after all. It's a cool experience, I would say check it out. Go into some of the hotels like the Golden Nugget and take a peek at the shark tank with a waterslide inside it while you're there.
I really prefer Fremont Street and downtown Vegas when I'm visiting. It's a bit more residential. Feels more like a normal city and has a bunch of character (more than the strip, that is). I think it's worth a trip down for a day or two to wander around and check out all the new development going up around the Zappos headquarters.
Loved every bit of Fremont street. Way better then the strip. The zip line is a must do the FREE entertainment was awesome the huge monster of a tv was amazing.
One of the fun areas. Love the whole experience
Pretty nice area! The hotel quality for the price is great. Cheaper and nicer than staying in the strip.
Did not like this area at all. Found it quite smelly and dirty. A bit run down.
We showed up in 106 degree weather and although it was hot, being under the canopy was great. Lots to see and do and we enjoyed our little getaway.
This is a MUST! It's free and the biggest screen in the world. Night is always best, but if you have children, please keep in mind they WILL get an advanced education and open alcohol is allowed on the streets. But the nights are still the best!
For the area and environment that you're in (by coming to Vegas) this is exactly what you're looking for, if your vibrant and open to seeing the world in a different way. It's a high energy place and as many have said, it's got that typical downtown feel of a big main city. Loads of people and it's super loud, in a great partying type of way! I'm not into bars and clubs but I still enjoyed this street. Consider it the Bourbon St of Vegas but you have a larger street size with multiple DJ's, a whole bunch of street performers and magicians, etc. They also have a tarp-type of white screen above your head, playing music videos and shows... and people are happy to look up and take loads of pics. It's a fun and exciting place & enjoyable to see so many people having a great time.
