“equipped with an airstrip!”
Gaston's White River Resort began 50 years ago when Al Gaston, Jim Gaston's father, purchased 20 acres of White River frontage with six small cottages and six boats...the year was 1958. Now the resort covers over 400 acres with two miles of river frontage, and has 79 cottages ranging in size from two double beds and a bathroom to a two-story cottage with ten private bedrooms. The airstrip has grown from 1800 feet to 3200 feet. The six boats are now over 70, and with a massive state-of-the-art dock to hold them all. The years have brought a restaurant, private club, gift shop, tennis court, playground, swimming pool, duck pond, game room, and two nature trails. We offer a Conference Lodge that will seat up to 125 persons and can be catered to by our restaurant. Jim has now run the resort for over 44 years. Local and national recognition in the form of stories about the resort in magazines, newspapers, and TV and radio programs has been very rewarding. But the best reward, honestly and truly, is the many friends we have made over the years. We still see people who visit us each year who were guests of Gaston's back in 1958. Many of them were children then and are now visiting us with their children. Many of our guests continue to visit us year after year. That, of course, is needed or we would simply have been out of business long ago. We take that as a statement that we have continued to grow and change with the times to our guest's satisfaction...and we plan to continue that tradition.
