Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on February 07, 20244 fairly level RV parking spots off of a county road. Not much traffic so fairly quiet. No facilities and minimum maintenance (saw broken glass at one site) but FREE. Google will bring you to the welcome center but I’ve attached a map and the camping area is #10 on left off of county 97. Nothing much to do there and hunters frequent the area. Good free quiet overnight in transit to Branson for us.

Very primitive spot off the county road. Pulled off the road and found 5 sites to our immediate right.
Arrived during deer hunting season and all sites were filled. Had a back up location already planned in case this happened.
Struggled to get AT&T cell/internet service when seeking new GPS coordinates on my google maps app when leaving.
If you really needed a place to crash for an evening this location could work. You are very close to the road so noise might be a factor.

As full timers we stopped here for the last week of the month and didn’t spend a penny. We needed the rest and also needed to edit video.
This place is easy to miss so driving south on 97 start slowing down and looking left. There is no sign on the road. The drive is about halfway up a hill. You pull into a small loop with 4 relatively large flat sites to the right and 2 smaller sites to the left. Truck traffic during the day surprised us. Loud! Nights are pretty good. Most who stop are just passing through for a night only. Also we cleaned up quite a bit of crap people left behind.

The night we got here there were many vehicles, a large RV, and one campsite which looked semi-permanent. Seemed okay, but we opted for an open field down the road which was much more level. I mapped the campground best I could, and came up with the following coordinates for anyone wanting to try the Conservation Area for themselves... LAT 37.1714. LONG -93.9475
Those coordinates may be a scooch off, but the road is easy to see, and there is a “campground” sign there.

Nice dry camping site for a night. We arrived on a Monday night in June and one site was occupied by tents. Sites 1 and 2 were clean and all sites are level. It is very close to the road, but there is very little road traffic. The entry road and pads are gravel, are in a wooded area, and appear well maintained. It is surprising it is free.

There are four camping spots and all have a fire ring. All were gravel and fairly level. Easy access. Very easy to get our 28 ft camper in

Five gravel sites, none level, next to a minor highway that stays busy until dark, then very quiet. Out in the countryside on the edge of a 4300 acre wildlife area. Probably used by hunters in deer and dove seasons. Completely shaded. Fire ring at each site. Four sites very close together and one by itself. Only vans or tents will fit. A farm just down and across the road probably keeps this from becoming a local beer-drinking and partying site. Lots of trash about.
