The Marais des Cygnes Massacre Site, also known as Marais des Cygnes Massacre Memorial Park, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a U.S. National Historic Landmark. It is the site of the 1858 Marais des Cygnes massacre. The site includes a fort that was present then, and a house built by Charles C. Hadsall after the incident. It was given to the state of Kansas. Kansas turned it over to the Kansas Historical Society to operate.
Really cool spot with lots of interesting history. You're able to stay in your car for the most part and drive to each of the signs
