“Joseph Smith's first temple”
While enjoying a daily tour, discover the first temple built by Joseph Smith and his followers. Explore the visitor center museum and hear the stories of the inspiring people who built and preserved the historic house of worship. Create a meaningful experience as a participant in one of the many educational programs hosted at the Spiritual Formation Center. Reflect on the story of the sacred landmark while resting in the colorful temple gardens. nterpretive tours of the Kirtland Temple begin with a brief theater presentation at the Kirtland Temple Visitor Center. Following the video presentation, historic interpreters lead a forty to fifty minute walking tour through the temple gardens and historic structure. Visitors explore the upper and lower courts of the temple, while learning about the construction and multiple uses of the temple by the 1830’s community.A preservation fee of $3.00 per person is requested at the beginning of the tour. Preservation passes are provided at the Kirtland Temple Visitor Center. All proceeds go to the ongoing preservation of the Kirtland Temple.Tour reservations required for groups exceeding 15 persons.
The visitor center was also a great stop. So much information given by the 2 missionary's learned a lot here. If your into church history worth the stop.
