You will be half an hour away, from stores (civilization), but you still can get some TV stations and Netflix works via AT&T. The pond has its own swan, and various ducks. Photogenic chapel on the property is used for over 30 weddings a year. Laundry was very low cost compared to all others.

The setting is pretty but it’s set up for permanent sites mainly. Very little shade. The 99 degree weather and atmosphere kept us from stopping though we had a reservation for an overnight on the way towards Lake Erie

First off, the spread-out campground is separated by the county road. The winding paved county road has a lot of curves and hairpin turns. Although beautiful and peaceful the CG is 20mi from Charleston where most of provisioning can be accomplished - it just seems like forever to get to Interstate 77 via Middle Fork Road. Despite access, the CG has sites that are spaced apart mostly. Some seasonal sites. Driveways are okay, some paved, but you have to drive to the pool which is across the road and down the meadow. Nice pond with ducks & one swan (Lucy). Beautiful chapel, great staff. Restrooms & showers were clean but could use an upgrade. Laundry is small.

I read the previous reviews and had my doubts about this campground. We had stopped at the Hatfield winery and saw that this camp was close. We decided to give it a shot. Yes the road is narrow but so is most of the backroads in West Virginia. The campground is separated by the county road, but traffic is non-existent.
When we pulled in and saw the beautiful lake and church we were hoping for a spot. The owner informed us that full hook ups for RV’s is $50 a night. But since we were in a van it would only be $25. This is a church campground and alcohol is not allowed. There is a huge grassy field across the street where we could take our dog to run. The pool was closed when we were there. We did do some flyfishing and caught a huge perch. The owners told us the lake is stocked with bass, perch, and carp. We really enjoyed sitting on the bank of the lake watching the ducks and swans swim. I highly recommend staying here!

We were lucky to have found this location in time for a getaway during Memorial Day weekend. Got in on Saturday and left Tuesday morning. We didn’t want to leave. It was so peaceful with beautiful weather, including a great thunderstorm on Sunday night. Nina and Mark, the owners, are wonderful people who are really putting their all into making the campgrounds a lovely home away from home for travelers. My husband and I didn’t miss the overcrowding, loud city at all. We didn’t care if we had cell reception or not. We soaked in the serenity of the landscape and enjoyed every moment we could before heading back to reality. We’re definitely going again in the fall. Highly recommend it!
