“The stomping grounds of Dale”
Teenage Dale Earnhardt used to drive a yellow '56 Chevrolet, and he used to drive it sideways-- burning around the 90-degree corners on Old Earnhardt Road. Just a bit further down Dale Earnhardt Blvd., you'll find the original Earnhardt Road, where the Earnhardts from years gone by had a slaughterhouse. It was once a short country road with two 90-degree turns; it has since been softened by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. A portion of the road still exists, and you can see the road marker on your left as you head into Kannapolis.
