“one of the oldest historical societies”
They are one of the oldest historical societies in the State of Illinois. Since 1906, they have been fulfilling our mission: “to collect, exhibit, and interpret the material culture of Kankakee County.” Each year, they welcome thousands of visitors to our Museum Campus for individual and group tours of our historical displays, educational experiences, and numerous events. They also provide research services to both members and the public, and make available both indoor and outdoor venues for meetings, wedding/receptions, and similar activities.
