“Super Kitsch trailer motel!”

Built by Los Angeles writer and director Morgan Higby Night, Hicksville was opened in April 2010 as a retreat for artists of any medium to get away and have a safe place to create & collaborate. The motel came into existence as Morgan realized that people from any occupation or background might appreciate a place to go relax and enjoy the magic that is in and around Joshua Tree. Each trailer has air & heat. We have a BBQ area you can use and Bistro area with a microwave, dishes, toaster as well. We have an indoor and outdoor shower. The bathroom is shared by all the small trailers. The New World & Sideshow have full baths. ***Note: You must book in advance to get the address!*** They only allow registered guests on the property.

Beware - Terrible Experience

Tried to book this for my wife and her sister for a surprise weekend, ended up out hundreds of dollars and headed to court. When we tried to confirm the check-in we were told that even though the reservation was in my wife's name, since I had paid with my credit card (IN FULL) that they would be unable to check in. Tried to offer solutions, rebook with new card, provide new card for incidentals on arrival, anything. Instead the owner (Morgan Night) took way too much joy in berating my wife, bringing her to tears, and offering the solution that she should be mad at me for not reading the fine print. After reading the reviews from people he had abused in the past, it is probably best, don't think I would have felt comfortable with them being there in the first place. It was almost a joke and it should be relabeled the Hicksville Trailer Palace of Horrors. If he can be so abusive, rude, and misogynistic just trying to make or change a reservation, imagine what would of happened with a real customer service request. See you in court.

I had a terrible experience here. I had booked a trailer for my business partner and I, we were attending an industry event in Joshua Tree. But at the last minute I could not leave LA and I wanted my partner to go without me. Hicksville would not let her check in because I was not there and the room was in my name, they would not honor my request to cancel the room; and then on top of it they charged me 2 late check in fees AND a no show fee. They refused to work with me, their customer service is attitude ridden and virtually non-existant. The manager was rude and dismissive, he kept referencing the fact that I had in fact agreed to all of their policies at the time I reserved the room (you have no choice; if you don't "agree" to their policies, you can't book a room).
PLEASE BEWARE THEY HAVE VERY UNFAIR AND VERY STRICT POLICIES HERE. AND THE MANAGER IS AN ASSHOLE.

At the center of the small gated community is a salt-water, kidney-shaped pool, and roof-top hot tub. More often than not guests crowd around the teepee covered campfire, so it’s customary to bring enough beer for everyone. Don’t worry, there’s a beer vending machine on the property.

They also have complementary BB guns and archery supplies that guests are welcome to use… so long as they don’t shoot each other, of course.

Oh my God this place is a retro-kitsch dream come true. It's not the cheapest place to stay, but it's clean, got laundry and coffee and concessions and it's freaking amazing. You'll have to share a shower, but that's not too bad considering all of the fun stuff to do here!

This is a place that you can sit back and enjoy what it has to offer you with its facilities.

Not a luxurious accommodation, just a different one. And this is what is special about it.

While being there we created art and communicated with the people that were living at the other trailers.

When we lit the fire and did some barbecue, we were all singing and smiling. This was the best thing about Hicksville Trailer Palace...so simple but yet so important. This is what is missing from the human relationships nowadays...communication...and this is exactly what we found there.

Strongly recommended!
