An absolutely stunning hike!! This hike is packed with scrambling, climbing, impressive waterfalls and an abandoned railroad tunnel (which is open to the public). While my boyfriend and I are not experienced hikers, we did manage to complete the entire loop. With that said, invest in some quality hiking boots and use extreme caution when near the falls. Tip: go to the left trail, instead of the right trail, first when beginning the hike. The left trail is consistently strenuous due to the steep footing and rocky terrain. Complete the difficult part of the trail first. Many people were turning around after the last fall, however, you can continue by following the well-marked trail blazes. This will lead you to a less intense, more secure climb down to the parking lot.
Great hike! Allow about 2 and a half hours to hike this as you need to keep your eyes on the treacherous trail and stop to look around. There are many places to put sit on the rocks and put your feet in the many little pools but you need to wear hiking boots or shoes with very good traction. No flip flops. There is a big sign at the beginning of the trail that says that people have died and to use extreme caution. I also don’t recommend small children or small pets because the trail is mostly large boulders and rocks with upward climbing along the falls.
