“big cat, wildlife sanctuary”
Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. “Our mission is to provide a safe, loving, forever home for endangered big cats, and to educate the public about their plight in the wild and captivity”. Our primary focus is in the rescue of cats from serious situations. Once an animal is taken in at Catty Shack Ranch, they have a loving, forever home for life. We do not breed, sell, or trade any of our animals. Our current residents include tigers, lions, cougars, leopards, bobcats, arctic foxes, and coatimundis (the last two are “honorary cats”).
First of all, it was muddy but it was fun and exciting. My favorite part is the nighttime feeding. The animals were beautiful! It's a good thing to see that the animals are being well taken care of and what inspires me is that it's a non-profit organization.
We went to the nighttime feeding as recommended on trip adviser. Looks tiny from the front but then opens up in the back. Amazing volunteers, very friendly, and you can tell they love what they do. They had all kinds of big cats including lions, tigers, cougars, and more. Beautiful cats, if you purr loudly at them they will purr back. So neat to watch the feeding, the cats roar so loud. Wonderful unique experience, we will be going back every time we are near there.
This was by far one of my favorite places to go. If you ever decide to go, the nighttime feeding is a must! Although it's not really night, it's fun to see the tigers and lions up close! Definitely will visit again next year and every year. My daughter is 2 and she had a blast walking around and seeing the animals. The tigers when you first walk through and the lions are the best attractions to see during the feeds. It's was overall really fun and a very unique experience.
