“campsites and cabins galore”
The park takes its name from the foaming cascade formed by Buttermilk Creek as it flows down the steep valley side toward Cayuga Lake. With 46 campsites and 7 rustic cabins the park offers lake and pool swimming, hiking trails through woodlands and along the gorge, picnic areas and playing fields.
This is a great park for hiking through the gorge. every bit as beautiful as Watkins Glen state park although not quite that majestic. We enjoy walking the gorge downhill by parking in upper lot, off W. Kings road, and end up at the bottom in the swimming area with buttermilk falls backdrop. Cabins are nice also to spend a week around Ithaca area.
Very nice loop trails around the gorge.
Awesome hiking!
