Coddington Guest House

The Coddington Guest House lies in the city of Ithaca nestled  between Cornell University and Ithaca College campuses, right on the border of the IC campus (you can’t get any closer) and less than a mile from CU campus. From our porch on South Hill, our panoramic view is quite possibly the best around. We overlook ten square miles, with breathtaking views of Cayuga Lake and all of its shorelines and waterfront areas, Cornell campus, and Ithaca. At the Coddington, you’ll enjoy the privacy and convenience of a hotel stay with a welcoming environment that is more unique and memorable. Your hostess is a native Ithacan, full of useful information about the community. We hope you enjoy your stay! We are very close to two major parks and waterfalls, Treman (a.k.a.Enfield) and Buttermilk Falls, less than a mile from the downtown Commons, major shopping and the Farmers Market, and 10 minutes from Taughannock State Park! A family restaurant and convenience store lie a few feet in one direction; a recreational walking and biking gorge trail begins a few in the other direction. Your hostess participates in the wine industry and can help you plan your days on the wine trail. Two multiple - bed family suites are convenient for the additional persons in your party, and a smaller suite for singles or couples has a private entrance to porch swing. All bedrooms have views of Cayuga Lake. Each suite is in a separate wing of the house, offering privacy from other suites. Children are warmly welcomed. Wireless internet allows for work stays as well as pleasure. TV and bedroom A/C in all suites, with kitchen in one suite, refrigerator in another.Our décor is eclectic, with a warm ambience that combines formal living areas with the light and airy feel of beach house and breakfast bistro.  The Coddington offers total privacy of the suites from one another (each is in a different wing of the house), and features a music parlor, reading/entertainment family room, sunroom, breezy porches,  and treadmill and hand weights for exercise buffs– something for everyone in the family!  The house was built in 1850 as a train station and was home to a large Italian clan throughout the 20th century. The Coddington Guest pays tribute to that family via suite names, and has been a home away from home for visitors to Ithaca since 2000.
