Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on September 07, 2023This campground is a very nice forest service campground. There are two loops with loop A being mostly tent and very small camper sites. Loop B is all tent/RV sites. In loop B there are a couple of sites with electric/water but most are no hookups but each site has a gravel pad, large picnic table, fire ring, grill table, & designated tent square filled with sand.
We didn't go through loop A but loop B has 2 sets of pit toilets and a large garbage dumpster. The campground hosts were very nice and welcoming. Even though there are no water hookups as most of the sites, there are water spigots between each site. I was able to use about 50 feet of hose and fill our water tank while parked in our site.
This campground would have been perfect had in not been for the proximity to the highway. There's constant highway noise. We got used to it but it was bothersome for a while.
While this is a very nice campground nestled in the trees about 20 minutes from West Yellowstone, the highway noise would discourage me from staying here again or recommending it to others. I noticed other forest service campgrounds in the area that seemed further off the highway.
We stayed here in a 30 ft travel trailer.

This was a very nice park. It’s very well maintained. The sites a spacious and not on top of each other. Nice wooded area with permanent fixtures of fire pit, picnic table, bear storage and grilling platforms. It’s close to the west entrance to Yellowstone.
The A loop is all FF and has several sites along the River.
It is a bit noisy during the day with traffic along Hwy 20, but quiet after dark.

We moved from B loop over to A loop when we found it was all FCFS. it’s also a bit more quiet. The site are nicely spaced and most are level. Sites 19-23 are safe for big rigs with additional parking for toweds. These are also along the River for great fishing. There’s a second entrance, unmarked, for easy access and avoids going through the campground. Fee is $20 but they discount half with park pass.
Overall a great gem. We stayed over a weekend in mid June and had our pick of sites.

Loop A is FCFS and # 19 was our choose furthest away from the road. Talked to the host in B and discovered #2,3,4 were FCFS electric and the temps were high so we chose electric. Cost is half due to our pass but no discount on electric which is $6/day.
Trash was full and even after they came was full again. Only 1 trash can for each loop.
Noise was almost constant and we would have moved but only had a short time.
Float the Henry fork of the Snake.
Hike Box Canyon not far and beautiful. Flat and above the river 4 miles total. Takes you to Rosie Falls. Saw a bull moose and 2 Osprey nests with occupants.
Lots of fishing and 4 wheel driving.
Big spaces with lots of room.
We have a booster but cell service was variable.
Checked out Buffalo CG and lots of availability also and think it would have been quieter.

Some have b Loop have partial electric hook up and water spigot. Vault toilet is very clean but it near the road so it can be a little noisy.
