On a quest for artistic oddities on our cross-country trip, we really wanted to see this, but couldn’t find it. The directions link took us to the wrong place. We saw it alongside 80N after we gave up and continued south.
Just off I-80 near Winnemucca NV is Thunder Mountain, one man's concrete paean to his Native American ancestry. It is quirky, monumental, moving. There is a fence around it now, as the house is too unstable for visitors. But you can visit all around the perimeter, and there are oddities all over the place. Enjoy!
This is a cool little spot to stop. Pet friendly but maybe not inside as their is glass all over the ground. Take exit 145 make a right then quick left and follow the road about 1/4 mile to the site.
Take the exit 145 to get access to the gate. Otherwise you can’t get into the gate. There’s no longer access to the house but it’s still amazing to see.
There is nothing out there at the GPS location.
Loved this place, lots of different things to see and do. If this is on your way, I would take the time to stop and check it out
Don’t pass this by. Go, you won’t be sorry.
