“world's largest cross!”
A 198-foot (60 m) steel cross erected by The Cross Foundation is located in Effingham. The Cross is made out of over 180 tonnes of steel and cost over $1 million. The Cross Foundation claims that the cross is the tallest in the United States standing at 198 feet, even though The Great Cross (260-foot (79 m)) in St. Augustine, Florida is believed to be the tallest freestanding cross in the world.

I am sure that the $1,000,000 they spent would have fed a lot of hungry children in our country.
It was huge, but not the biggest as they claim.
It is stunning! Reading the dimensions and seeing them are two different things! It’s massive and breath taking! Take the time to stop and see it - it’s worth it!!

Drive past here when headed West. Always enjoy seeing a positive site from the car while traveling. Nice photo opp.
"You simply can't miss it!"
IT was a Bit dark when we arrived, and missed the gift shop. But although it was closed, we still had the opportunity to walk to the Cross, along the way "dont forget to look down" There are bible sayings, and names of lost ones.
It was drizzling a bit, but it did not stop us from walking around teh cross and hearing the bible stories.
So no matter what the time is, you should still make a quick stop to see.
It's lite up so no worries.
My son 9 and daughter 11 even enjoyed the stop.

Very big. But its "wow" factor was diminished as it was one of many large identically styled crosses we saw along I70, 35, & 40
