“A wonderland of geological features”
Mendon Ponds Park is the largest Monroe County Park with 2,500 acres of woodlands, ponds, wetlands and glacially created landforms. In 1969, it was named to the National Registry of Natural Landmarks due to its geologic history and presence of significant kames, eskers, and kettles. This distinct park offers six Lodges and seven Shelters, all available for rental. Mendon Ponds has many recreational areas; Sharon’s Sensory Garden, Wild Wings, Inc., a Youth Camping area, and a boat launch (non-motorized boats only). The six enclosed lodges come with picnic tables, burner stove tops, a wood burning stove, a grill and water/bathrooms outside nearby. The Cobblestone House has a refrigerator and an oven plus indoor bathrooms, and the Stewart Lodge has a refrigerator. The open-air shelters have picnic tables, grills, and bathrooms nearby.
Great family escape! Very educational for the kids and very fascinating.
You can learn about the geological history of the place, the bird species, about animals at the kiosks existing on site. The staff is super friendly and smiling all the time.
There are playgrounds for the kids and you can also do some fishing or sit by the water and read or sunbathe.
Everyone is super satisfied with the place. When we return back to New York we will definitely re visit.
Great park filled with many wonderful trails! There is a nature center and Wild Wings.
Great place to spend time with the family. I love trails and there are a bunch of trail options here. The nature center is packed full of info on the bird species and geological history. Very very cool!
