Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on June 10, 2023Fishing Hole is one of the City of Homer camping locations. It is gravel parking, dry camping that can get crowded when full, but it's right next to the fishing hole and about 20% of the price of the very nice full hook-up private park on the other side of the fishing hole. Some sites at Fishing Hole have water views.
I stayed here for $10 in June, 2013. It's now $15. There is a dump station adjacent to the welcome sign that costs $2. It's across the road from some shops and about a mile from the eating and drinking establishments and boat basin at the end of the spit.
There is an area immediately adjacent to the SE side of the campground that is used for pulling out and working on large boats. There was a large landing craft being worked on in May, 2015 - a possible source of noise.
Water is available and trash cans are located throughout the area.

We really enjoyed the proximity to the fishing hole and other attractions on the Homer Spit. When we stayed the week after Memorial Day there were plenty of sites available and many had water views.
Prices are $20 a night for an RV, $13 for a tent, and the on site sewer dump is $5.
The downside is the noise. Many of the campers at this particular location have no concept of quiet hours with many people using their generators around the clock.

Good basic spot. Convenient for walking to shops or Salty Dawg saloon. Many folks burn pallets for campfires, so LOTS of scattered nails here. We picked up about 30. Some litter. If you get sites at the edge you get best view. Fairly level. Not very quiet. Only place open past Labor Day. Picnic table & fire pit provided. Sites very close together. No trees, so great for star gazing!

With the prices of all the full service campgrounds around Homer getting ever more expensive as the facilities get longer in the tooth, the Fishing Hole campground became home for our most recent 3 day stay in Homer. While the campground will be noisy, it is very well located within walking distance of the large marina and many of the shops and eateries on the spit. The campground price has gone up $5 since I was here 6 years ago but the dump price (not included in the camping price) has jumped from $2 to $15!
This campground has expanded, adding two back-to-back rows on the east side in an area that was once designated for heavy boat repair. These sites are very popular with halibut fishermen who bring their boats and their RVs. They make great neighbors but unless you use earplugs, you will hear their early morning departures.
Yes, it's a rustic, basic, gravel parking lot but it's well located AND the cheapest game in town.

We camped here July 21-24, 2022.
Sites are FCFS and most included a picnic table and fire pit. It is a large gravel lot with dry camping. It certainly could use a bit of TLC.
All waterfront sites were occupied except one with a huge mud puddle filled with 3 inches of water, we took it. The puddle was gone in a day and we enjoyed the view, although it was pretty tight with neighbors on both sides. Site boundaries for the waterfront sites were not clearly marked. You will be right next to your neighbor in the interior sites as well if it is busy. There are 2 nice paved handicapped sites facing the fishing hole.
Flush toilets are located near the fish cleaning station. Plenty of fishing going on in the fishing hole. Pay at the kiosk with a credit card, $20. The kiosk stated that you were not to pay for your site until 2:00. Dump station was an additional $15 and $5 for potable water.
Easy walk to shops, marina and restaurants on the spit.

There are flush toilets but not very clean. Unfortunately for us the police showed up twice for a man beating his wife. It is right next to the salmon fishing pond but other than that, it's not great. It's now $30
