“largest natural botanical garden in the southeast”
The largest natural botanical garden in the southeast, Chatwood Gardens is a beautifully tended 6-acre gardenscape surrounding a historic Federal-style house built in 1808. As part of its collection of native plants and species, the estate is mainly known for it world-famous heritage roses located in a Williamsburg-style walled garden. Not too busy or overdone, this naturally abundant display of plants and flowers is quite impressive to both plant enthusiasts and admirers of nature. Chatwood Gardens is located 10 miles west of Durham, just northeast of historic Hillsborough.
