Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on October 15, 2023Central NC doesn't present a lot of options for camping. Oak Hollow is one of the few and is a pretty decent option. There are two wooded loops and one gravel lot. The sites in the wooded loops are a bit crazy, all off level to some degree, many to a crazy degree. We ended up going for the easy option and stayed in the gravel.
Verizon is a bit iffy in the park, AT&T is fast and the park WiFi, at least when there is hardly anyone in the park is great! There is lots of lake access and decent walking because you can leave out of the back of the park and walk the adjacent neighborhood. There is road noise from the highway (an offramp is visible from the park) but it does let up at night. Both High Point and Greensboro are convenient and nearby Jamestown is a neat small town with several restaurants including an oyster bar and a good beer and wine bar / store (Potent Potables).

Fun campground near to 311. Variety of sites. Larger vehicles like ours parked in flat lot very close to each other but with a nice view of the lake. For trailers and smaller Rvs the other areas are nicely spaced with trees. While not all spaces are level they are all gravel or solid surface. Very relaxing. For tents they have wood platforms and picnic tables. Large lake for boating and fishing. Marina available. Tennis courts and golf course nearby on property. Many stores, fast food, shopping and services within 4 miles. Small store on site. Enjoyed stay. Only downside was lack of good internet. They have free WiFi but even theirs was weak.

We rolled into Oak Hollow after being unable to get into Tanglewood. We were greeted by a surly older gentleman, who had kindly held a spot for us when we called him that morning. While you can reserve spaces at this campground, you cannot make a reservation within a week of arrival.
After rolling up and down some hills to see where our large rig was to be positioned in 'section B', we noted that our saved spot was currently occupied by spill over vehicles from other campers. We requested to be able to move into another spot (several were unoccupied), but the surly gentleman was not having that. We asked the neighbors to move their vehicles and we crammed ourselves between two other large rigs with ~7 feet on each side of us. Yay.
Section 'B' is a parking lot back-in area mostly occupied by 'the big boys' - lots of 40'+ fifth wheels and large groups of folks occupying them. There are no picnic tables or fire rings in this section. Hook-ups are behind you - and you will likely need extensions to reach them (we needed to use our electric cord extender and two sewer hoses, but reached water just fine with one hose).
Decently quiet on weekday evenings, it was a bit loud with neighbors enjoying themselves around propane fires (which they brought) on the weekends. Every morning was filled with the sounds of diesel trucks coming and going.
There is a gate which is locked after 8pm until 8am for which you are given a code to enter/exit. We were given the wrong code and got stuck inside the park - luckily a campground worker arrived early for work and helped us out.
There are two other loops for camping - Loop A provides a more 'camping' feel and is set amongst trees - but the sites are not overly level up there.
The pool was closed for the season. I will note it is pretty small - and there is a sign that says guests are not allowed in the pool - only campers.
No trails or great running opportunities in the area, but we saw kids fishing in the pond that the campground is set alongside.
WiFi was ok - fine for web surfing.
Overall, it's a fine place to park your butt for a week to explore the area.

We stayed in Section B for the bigger rigs. Sections A and C are more like a wooded campground and B is basically a large parking lot with full hookups, including 77 channel cable and city wifi. For most of the time we did not have anyone on either side of us, but if it were full, it would certainly be cramped and a bit less enjoyable. It is fine if you are out exploring, but I would not come here to "camp" in Section B. You do have nice views of the lake which does have a marina and is a great lake to kayak in. There is a pool and laundry, which are open seasonally. There is some road noise.

This campground is directly off the interstate 74 which was perfect for us as we were looking to stop for the evening on the way through to SC.
Pros: Easy Access - Kind staff and campers- Easy to follow And safe roads for the kids to explore - dog friendly - huge lake to with shell/rock hunting - Playground within walking distance at the marina that is really nice
Cons: lots are VERY close together at all the sites - pool is tiny - sounds from the interstate

The setting is beautiful especially with the lake. The sites are asphalt. the sites were sometimes way out of level and very dirty, maybe due to run-off. Lots and lots of big ants all over. Lots of shade, reasonable site spacing. Very near interstate so you will hear it when outside unless your down by the lake. Good AT&T service. There a gravel area (section B) where they put the big rigs. Those look level and clean, but no trees, just a large gravel lot with spaces marked by painted lines on the gravel. This lot is at lake level.

Site was pretty sloped front to rear and weirdly there was only one water point shared between two sites, so if your neighbor got in first and hooked up without a double adaptor, you’re out of luck.

This is a nice campground right on the lake. We were just passing through so we only stayed 1 night but wish we could have stayed longer. Our site, C18, was on the lake and pretty level.

This was a great campground. I was happy that I drove through prior to reserving my spot as there are three sections and there is only one that I would want to stay in. The sites in section A are suuuuper close to one another. That’s not my thing, but it might be totally fine with you! Section B was for big RV’s on gravel. Spots are close together and again, on gravel. Section C is where I stayed. I was there during the week, which was much more quiet than when I drove through on a weekend. I think that I had bad luck, but the cops did come my first night due to an issue (drug and domestic related) to another camper in the section. My site had a beautiful view of the lake, as all sites do in that section. It was a bit noisy at times, as there is a road close (hearing, but not seeing distance - the trees conceal the campground well). If you are a tent camper, the tent sites are super nice and literally right next to the lake.
