We have camped here twice recently. We have a pop-up that’s about 25 ft long plus a tow vehicle (SUV). First trip was site 38 and we loved it except for the water hookup being too far away. We had to buy a longer hose and put hose had to go over the driveway of the site next to us. No one was staying on that site while we were there but if they had been, they would have been running over our hose everytime they came or went. The site has electric as well with both 30 amp and 50 amp connections. We really loved the view here and the site was very large. Easy access to the beach/lake.
The second trip we stayed in site 27 but didn’t like it as much. The views are lovely but there’s a steep drop from the site to the beach/water so you really have to go a few campsites down in order to get to the lake. The length of this driveway was very short. We barely fit. The water connection was nearby but not directly next to the site. The sites surrounding 27 were somewhat spacious but we still prefer more privacy than we had at this site.
The bathhouses were mostly clean and climate controlled. The hot water was REALLY hot, so much that we were unable to take a shower in there for fear of burns (literally, it was that hot). Across the street from this campground is the visitor center. The staff was very unfriendly - she acted like we were bothering her when we asked about firewood and also bought a bumper sticker. However it’s worrh checking out because it has a exhibit that’s pretty cool.
Food Lion is about 15 mins away. Walmart, Dollar Tree, Lowe’s and several food places are 20 mins south on I-85 at exit 212. There is a store/gas station about 6-7 mins from the campground, and they have large firewood bundles for $5 each. They also sell propane and of course various food and gas. The man who we encountered there was very nice. We took a driving tour of the Nutbush campground but didn’t care for it as the sites were too close together for our liking.
We will be back to this campground but I would choose site 38 over 27 next time.

We stayed in the Satterwhite Point area at the JC Cooper campground. Only 10 mins off the interstate.
The lake is beautiful and full of fish. There’s a nice beach and shower house. Peaceful and empty when we were there on a Thursday.
Our campsite was on the water and there were no bugs or mosquitoes. We didn’t want to leave this wonderful place.
Check in was interesting since we didn’t have a reservation. The lady at the gate didn’t know what to do. She told us to call Reserve America. But they cannot do same day reservations.
We talked to the Ranger and he knew what to do. They have a list of campsites that aren’t reserved and you can pay and pick anyone of the open ones.
Cell coverage was spotty. Most of park i only had phone service, no data, on Sprint network.

Quiet, with ample space between campsites. Easy to get to since it's only a few miles from the interstate. We were waterfront, and could enjoy watching all the activity on the lake.
I recommend using a campground map to find one's way around since there are lots of loops within loops in the design. I have to admit that this design help maximize the usage of the available space though. Also, make sure you have two lengths of hose for your water hookup. We had to search for our hookup, and it took two lengths to reach it.
We'll definitely return here in the future. We had a very relaxing weekend.

We stayed here as a midway point to Jamestown/VA. Pulled in late (check the arrival times as the gate reportedly locks in the evening) and found our spot. 101 is on a corner a bit away from the lake but it turned out to be both a pull through spot and huge with neighbors pretty far off. A total win! Went for a run and was able to check out all the camping areas (day use closed). Really a lovely campground and big! I was very happy to get in three miles without running multiple laps.

Midweek in March was a peaceful and quiet time to be in this beautiful area. Views of the lake were great. This was our second stay here, and there will be no hesitation in coming back as long as we can get a waterfront site.

Overall this is a very nice campground with lots of lakefront sites. The water is great for paddle boarding or kayaking. Saturday mornings were busy with boat traffic but the rest of the week was quiet. The bathhouse was fairly new and cleaned frequently. Not a lot of hiking in the area but there is a small trail you can do from the campground. We never saw anyone working other than rangers checking on things during the day, there is a host site but it was empty. Overall a great campground, especially if you want to be on the water. Weekends get crowded but nearly empty during the week in the spring.

This is a Beautiful park with a lot of different camping spots. Some tent no power, boat in sites and a lot of sites for bigger rigs with Power and water. Dump station I wish we had booked here longer but we just needed a short stop heading home to Florida. I will
Most definitely be back in July. The ranger told me the park stays full all summer but people cancel all the time. I’m sure with using the

We camped for a week here and it was very quiet as it was the week before Thanksgiving. We enjoyed our stay. We had a partial view of the lake which was nice. A couple of days it was pretty windy. There aren't a lot of hiking trails in the immediate vicinity but we found that on the Virginia side of Kerr Lake there were some very nice ones. We probably would of hiked more there, but it was hunting season. We also went down to Raleigh which is about an hour away. There are wonderful bike trails all around the city and countryside down there. If you like to fish and boat, Kerr lake is a wonderful place. The bathrooms were adequate. Probably could do with some updating. There is a small playground for the kids. They also have a couple of handicapped sites that looked to be paved but small.
While we prefer Jordon Lake when we are in the area, this is also a very nice campground and would stay again.
For the record, no one was at the gate and the gate was not locked at night. Not sure if this is because we were camping in Nov.

We like this campground for its waterfront sites and good views. Our early March stay was very quiet since there were few campers there. The weather was awful, but that's not the campground's fault. We'll be back again.

We stayed here for 3 nights early October, 2023. They are hardcore on the check-in time of 4 pm. We arrived around 3:00 and the very nice guy at the check-in explained the "up aboves" are sticking to the 4 pm check-in, so he requested we go across the street and wait until a few minutes before check-in, then return. There were 4 other RVs in front of us - some had their campchairs out as they had been there since 2...
The longer RV watefront sites are nice - some shorter than others and some very close to others. We were out in a center loop area, which was a bit wonky to find - kind of a rat maze. Site was fine - long & a bit of leveling had to be done on our passenger side. Also, had to hold back a sapling on the passenger side when backing in (could use a trim). Campground was pretty full and so many smoldering fires that is was smoky - smoke was just hanging in the air. That's not the campground's fault though... Lots of acorns dropping on the top of the RV. Shower was hot & great!
We are full-time and have been to a LOT of campgrounds - this one is great for families and people that want to have their friends in the site next door. To me it was just ok - not as nice as some of the others around the lake.
