“6th generation family vineyard”
Located on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes Wine Region of upstate New York, Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards was established in 1984 by Jerry and Elaine Hazlitt. The family itself has been growing grapes and orchard fruit on the same land since 1852. Today, the winery and its vineyards are managed by sixth generation family members Doug Hazlitt and Leigh (Hazlitt) Triner. Affectionately called the Home of the Red Cat, Hazlitt Vineyards offers a casual approach and informal atmosphere to wine lovers everywhere.
One of the larger, and more popular wineries in Watkins Glen, Hazlitt makes some good stuff. Their description isn't wrong. All pretention is taken out of wine tasting there, with a laid back feel to both their wines, and the location. Red Cat is a tasty, sweet wine also known as the "Hot tub wine"...or...HHR...ask whoever is running your tasting about what HHR means.
