The 27 site campground has plenty of RV and walk-in tent site options all with brand new picnic tables, fire rings, lantern posts and fresh gravel. The sites are spacious, but a few are a little close together. Most RV sites are out in the open with no to little shade and come with water and 20, 30 and 50 amp service- no sewage hookup buy there is also a brand new dump station adjacent to the campground. The tent sites all have good shade. They have 3 yurts available to reserve in the campground as well.
The park has an interpretive center where rangers give talks on the weekends as well as a paved trail that rides parallel to the main loop road. The interpretative center offers several trails with interpretive features and incredible views. They have also installed a beautiful new car-top boat launch for canoes and kayaks. You must carry your kayak or canoe to the end of a dock where you load it onto some rollers that launch you into the water. There is also a floating dock available for boaters to access the park from the York River. Plenty of these trails are bike accessible and many of the park features are a decent hike from each other- so definitely bring your bike to this park!
Overall, a beautiful addition to the Virgina State Park system and is conveniently located a short drive (40 mins) from Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown. There are plentiful services such as gas, groceries, restaurants and bars within a 10 minute drive from the campground in Gloucester.

This place is basically brand new. I was in site #2 - paved, level pull-through. Bathrooms and showers are immaculate. Great cell and data service. Since it is so new, there isn’t much shade. But the park is in a great location 15 minutes from Yorktown. Definitely worthwhile for exploring the area.
