Sportsman's Beach Recreation Site (BLM)

November 1st, 2020: Info provided by BLM confirms 9 earlier reports from Nov 2007 thru Nov 2019. BLM campground has ~ 33 individual camp sites plus two dispersed camping areas for RV and tent campers. Vault toilets, covered picnic tables, grills, pull through and back-in camp sites, paved access, public boat ramp area. Undeveloped campsites also available for both tents & RVs. Open all year. No reservations, first come, first served. Self-register, self-pay at Iron Ranger (one Apr 2015 RVer couldn't find it). RVers report that campground is well maintained. RVer recommends bypassing first 16 sites (too close to highway) & says sites in bottom loop are spacious, level pull-thrus. New asphalt access road & new restrooms installed in 2007. Elevation: 3960'. 2020 Rate: Designated campsites, $6/night/vehicle; Undeveloped campsites, $4/night/vehicle; 50 percent discount for Federal Golden Age pass & other similar passes.
