“a piece of Montana history”
The Big Horn County Historical Society was organized in 1963. In 1978, society volunteers accepted the challenge of developing a museum. The Big Horn County Historical Museum opened in 1979. The museum is located on what was once a 22-acre vegetable farm. Through the years the museum has grown significantly from the two original structures, a farmhouse and barn, to 26 historic buildings that were moved to the property from various locations in the county. Later two barn style structures were built on site to exhibit the growing collection of farm equipment, horse drawn wagons and antique vehicles.
We finally had our navigation send us to the correct address. It was a very nice museum. It had indoor and outdoor things to look at and lots of free information books. We bought lots of cute stuff at the gift shop.
