Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on May 28, 2019My husband and I initially planned to stay here for 1 week, but after a couple of days, extended our stay for an additional week In August 2016. Weather was great, and since you're on top of a hill and we weren't too close to trees, we got great wind and no bugs.
After some expensive days at Acadia, we drove inland to this campground to enjoy the weather but not be so distracted from too much activity options. Our primary goal was to find a location for focusing on doing RV maintenance since we are full-timers.
PRICE: Rate was GREAT - they have a great discount with Passport America.
UTILITIES: Water pressure was fine. No hiccups with electricity or sewer. Wifi is adequate. Pull through spots for our 40-foot Motorhome to easily get in and out. The overall campground was clearly taken care of. I did not visit the laundry facility or the restrooms.
STORE: The store is open for LONG hours, so we could pop in and get a tasty pizza (they were generous with the cheese!) or ice cream whenever we had a hankering. We had a lot of boxes with supplies shipped to the office directly so we could have our parts for our projects, and they were so courteous to give us a call when things arrived.
ACTIVITIES: There is a hiking trail available as well as mini golf, a pool, and a few other activities right on the campground. On the weekend, there is a ZIP LINE available - my husband and I REALLY loved it!! Another day activity that we enjoyed was renting a canoe and going on the river that is near here. I guess kids returned to school and we were there on a Tuesday, and boy howdy we had the ENTIRE RIVER to ourselves! So peaceful and beautiful! I understand this is a good area for fishing as well.
So, if you're thinking of a spot to hang your head, this is a great option. I'm glad we were able to do a few activities while also doing our RV projects. The final bonus was that the people here are super nice. We were invited to a community pie night fundraiser while we were here and got to enjoy being in a group of people who really care about each other.

We stayed two nights at Stony Brook to take advantage of the hook-ups and laundry facility. The campground has a large, open area with long pull throughs and FHUs that would accommodate any sized rig. This area is closer to Hwy 2, so there is considerable road noise. There is another area that is much shadier, but the sites are smaller, back-in, and few have full hook ups. There is a dump station and water available.
There is a well-stocked camp store with a restaurant that is open from 6AM to 8PM. They serve breakfast, pizza, subs, hot sandwiches, etc. They also sell propane.
The staff were friendly and the sites and facilities were clean and well maintained. The laundry has 3 new front load washers and 4 dryers. However, it’s not inexpensive ($2.25 a wash/ $1.75 to dry) and the washers are cold water ONLY – although that was not posted anywhere. That is a personal pet peeve, so I did ask the staff to please post it.
We were there after Labor Day, so the pool was closed but there is rec room, free mini-golf, horseshoes, and playground for the kids. We walked the forest service road that runs past the campground, but did not find any forest trails and there is no access to the water from the campground.
We had 4 bars of Verizon 4G unboosted and the campground has free WiFi that worked intermittently.

This is an excellent campground if you are traveling through west Maine. We were going from Vermont over to Bar Harbor, Maine and this was right on the way.
Access was fairly easy (all the roads in Maine are smaller roads - not highways) and this one was right off the road. It is close to the city of Bethel for basic shopping also.
We stayed in the upper section and the pull thru spots are huge (60+ feet long). An enormous bus and trailer were next to us (they were workamping there) and no problems getting hooked up. The ends of the spaces dropped off a bit and was sandy so we did use caution getting too close to that area and were careful when leaving.
There were a lot of activities for the kids. They have really tried to setup sport areas, fee mini golf, playground, even some bikes kids can borrow. The recreation center had quite a few things for the kids to do as well. The pool was closed when we were there, but we can see it was pretty nice.
They had an okay laundry as well. 3 washers and 4 dryers I believe. Prices were a little higher than we wanted, but we ran some loads and things worked well.
There was wifi here that worked sometimes and not others. They tried to get it all setup and it just worked better in some places than others. On ATT we were getting 5 bars with 3G and actually the speed was really good.
The front office is also a shop with plenty of food and things to buy and they even do some pre-made sandwiches and cook things. We did not buy anything but the menu looked good and the prices were fair.
We used Passport America to get 50% off for our 2 nights there, so that was nice.
The people working there as well as the workamping folks were very nice. They took a lot of pride in keeping the sites clean and the flowers growing.
This was close to the major road where a lot of trucks were traveling through - so the noise was a bit higher than we would like, but it stopped at night.
We would stay again for sure!

We were just passing through & needed a place to park for a few nights and so glad we did!
Very friendly folks, including the owner. Quaint store and restaurant, open 6 A.M. - 8 P.M. and during the summer (July through Labor Day) they're open until 10 P.M Friday and Saturday. Good down home menu with breakfast served all day. We tried out the breakfast sandwich and no complaints!
Sites are a combination of full hook ups, electric/water/cable TV and no hookups. The premium /full hook up sites are pull-thrus, easy access and some (not all) have a slope so if you're over 40' leveling may be an issue, but overall nice grass/gravel pads with picnic tables and fire rings. Campground is open year-round.
Nice/clean bathroom/showers/laundry room. 3 washers/4 dryers and a bit pricey for a campground, $2.25 for wash & $1.75 for dryer but washers are nice front load machines and dryers give you almost an hour drying time so not complaining here either! I did one load and the machines worked very well.
Rec room, nothing fancy but loaded with puzzles, books and games, miniature golf, NICE in-ground swimming pool, zip line & playground, seemed very kid friendly.
They have firewood for sale, will fill propane tanks and in summer months offer canoe/kayak rentals and a zipline
Park models, long termers and a few private residents scattered throughout the park but everyone was friendly.

Not very friendly check in at this very tired camp. Was given a pull thru on a hill in a spot that must have washed out and just filled with sand . Tried to level but kept sinking into unpacked sand. Facilities were old and unkept. Would stay here again.

I’m gonna give this park just an average score. Needs a little TLC. Price for one night was ok $45.. full hookups. Roads need some work in the park. There is a restaurant on the property but it looked a little sketchy so we didn’t try it. Not sure if we would come back or not
