“Its views are spectacular and unmatched”
Rockcliffe Mansion is a 13,500-square-foot residence listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built between 1898 and 1900 by lumber baron John J. Cruikshank Jr. With his wife and four daughters, the family lived in Rockcliffe until 1924. Decorated in the Art Nouveau style, popular from 1890 to 1910, most of the original antique furnishings and fixtures are preserved. The mansion is filled with rich mahogany, oak and walnut appointments, magnificent Palladian windows, and fine interior decorations from America and Europe. Numerous architectural features cannot be duplicated.
Amazingly beautiful mansion. The owner was our tour guide and did a wonderful job of bringing it to life. I love to tour old homes and this is one of the best I have seen. This is a must do if you come to Hannibal.
If you like grand architecture, vintage furniture, textiles and rich woodworks you will love this step back in time. Our tour guide painted a picture of grand living, heart breaking loss and a triumphant return to grandeur. I hope this story goes on for many years.
