Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on September 12, 2023Haw creek falls. NFCG 8 well spaced sites near pretty waterfall and creek with good swimming hole. Pit toilets no water. Good hiking along the Ozark Highlands Trail East to Ft Douglas Trailhead. Nice short hike out of CG to Pack Rat Falls. Pams Grotto nearby also. A local favorite and busy weekends. It was quiet in the fall during the week. Right off a paved road

Camped 10/21/21 (Thur). This campground is now free for day use and camping. Pack it in, pack it out - there are no trash cans, no water, only 2 vault toilets. No cell service either. When turning onto the road that leads to the campground, you drive through the creek. It was shallow when we were there. The camping loop is the end of the road.
This is a decent campground located by the creek, but it's densely wooded and situated at the bottom of two large hills. At the time of our stay, the sun was low in the sky, so not great sun exposure. There was mud in places, so being damp, it just seemed very cold even though the temps weren't that bad. Sites are large, level and nicely spaced out. Our site 6, however, was under a walnut tree; large walnuts fell occasionally and were scattered all over our site. We moved our truck.
There's a short path with steps that leads to the creek and falls. Very beautiful! Sites have picnic table, lantern/trash hook, rock fire rings. Vault toilets had TP, but were not clean and smelly at times. There were a few other campers during our stay, and people drove through without stopping. We had planned on staying longer to explore and hike, but decided to move on after one night. Beautiful area though. We would return.

Easy access right off highway, must cross a cement bridge over creek that could flood during spring or heavy rains but dry for us, vault toilets, no showers or trash, fairly private sites with a couple right by creek, less than a mile to Pam Grotto trailhead, zero cell service but we have STARLINK and were able to get service over by the bridge to get some work done. The canopy at the campsites was too thick for STARLINK to work.

This place is BEAUTIFUL!!!! The falls, hardwoods, and atmosphere is so perfect. If you want to disconnect and get off grid….but don’t mind people….this is the place! You will have no radio, cell, or tv available here! However, the sites are spacious, with some accommodation for up to 30’ long. Be careful if taller than 12’ as low laying branches are frequent. Most sites have large picnic tables, fire ring and some have a charcoal grill. Site 6 is the best site. Pull thru with a view of the water but out of traffic. Lots of people escape here to visit and swim in the falls. And you have to cross the creek to get to the campground. However it’s worth it. Just be careful of flash flooding. So track the weather and without cell service or radio you won’t be able to actively check weather so make sure you plan.
Worst part was the people leaving trash. I fear that trash will eventually shut this place down. I tried to collect as much as possible. Pack in and out!

We were here in the fall and the vault toilets were in bad shape. Not dirty, but so full that the smell overwhelmed the majority of the campground. Never honestly encountered such a thing and it was pretty unpleasant. Campground looks hard used and I'd personally not go on the weekends, as it was very crowded and there is minimal privacy. Also seems to attract the weekend camping enthusiasts with too much gear and too little manners. If I'm in the area again I'd look for a different camping spot myself.
