Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on August 05, 2020We were parked up on a hill with a great view of the area. We did have to park kind of funny so our back window wasn't pointed at the guy across from us, but it worked out okay.
Because we were so close to Canada, our Verizon roamed to their cell towers so we didn't want to use it. When the campground WiFi worked it was awesome, but unfortunately it was a bit spotty. Overall slightly frustrating trying to get things done, but it really is the only spot to stay in town!

We really liked this little park beside Hwy 61.
Just a few miles from the Canadian border, this is a cute spot for an overnighter or a few days of relaxation. We never heard the highway and the park was dark and quiet at night.
Sites are very large as they all just sort of run together in a big field. All are FHUs. We had 50 amp and everything worked well. Use of all casino hotel amenities are included.
The best part is the views of the water and the active little bay. Very pretty!
We did have a lot of mosquitos here so didn't spend the time outside we would have preferred. They put one picnic table in the middle of three or four sites so I guess whoever wants it and gets it first can drag it to their site. Fire rings at each site.
Park WiFi was okay most of the time. Wide open skies for satellite. Restaurant in casino was okay. Nice little convenience store and gas/diesel station on site. Fill up before going into Canada!

After camping in crowded Silver Bay, we drove north to stay in Grand Portage. While the sites at this RV park don’t offer shade, the cool breezes from Lake Superior do the trick. Sites are full hook up and fairly level. Each site provides plenty of room to set up a gazebo or screened tent to sit outside. Bring mosquito repellent if you plan to have a campfire. There is a laundry facility for RV park guests to use if needed, as well. Nearby attractions include the Grand Portage National Monument, Grand Portage State Park (hiking) and hiking trails to the area high points, Mount Josephine and Mount Rose.

This was one of the sites with a view of Lake Superior over the marina. Not all of them have this view. The hookups were nice and staff friendly. The area is beautiful. Very close to the National Heritage Center which I very highly recommend. Casino and hotel is decent. The restaurant staff was nice but the food wasn’t all that great...but these are COVID times, so you get what you get. Definitely recommend this place for your Lake Superior tour. They have wifi, but the best strength.

We have the lake view spot, Campsite 12. The ground is fairly leveled. Great view of the marina and Lake Superior. Each campsite has full hookup, a plus. There is a Trading Post nearby (walking distance) where you can get gas/diesel, etc... I recommend this RV Park. Connection: 5G w T-mobile.

Great view of Lake Superior! Decent amount of space between sites. Full hook-ups with convenient, small laundry room and showers. Close to casino with restaurant and convenience store. Convenient to ferry to Isle Royale. Very quiet area. Spots weren't maintained well, could have used regular mowing to keep the weeds down. Staff was friendly.

Gravel and weedy sites, but clean. Open loops with no trees. Not much TLC at this place. Bathrooms were clean. You can use the casino facilities with camping.

THE GOOD
Sites: Every site is really spacious. Some sites have a better view of the water than others. Ours (site) had a nice view of the lake.
Grounds: Clean and maintenance was decent.
Marina: You are right at the marina and can fish from it.
Gas/Food: Gas is at the casino (regular and diesel). The groceries in the gas station are surprisingly well stocked with lots of choices. The nearest grocery store (other than the gas station) is 30 minutes away.
Restaurant: The casino has a pretty good restaurant (don't expect quick service and the wait can be a bit) and deli for quick food.
Isle Royale NP: Not even 10 minutes from where the boat launches for Windigo Visitor Center (book well in advance).
Canada border: 15 minutes away.
Waterfalls: Lots of waterfalls and state parks to visit on the U.S. side along the lake. Most within and hour of the casino. Some within an hour and a half or closer to Duluth.
THE BAD:
Bugs. Lots of mosquitos. Have a good fire and bring a bug zapper if you want to sit outside.
WORTH NOTING (Not good or bad)
Check-in: Go directly to the marina office to check-in. Look for the Open sign. The staff has to go help the national park boat across the way around 3:00 so nobody is in the office for about an hour at that time. Just and FYI there.
Connectivity: Verizon is non-existent. AT&T works well enough.
Sites: Basic needs. Grass and some space.
