Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on July 23, 2023Only 6 miles from the nearest town (Glendive), heavily used by the off-road vehicle crowd, both day and night, so if you are searching for peace and quiet, this is probably not on your top 10 list. There is 1 vault toilet at the park's north entrance. Fairly level camping pads off the main road, suitable for Travel trailers and 5th wheels up to 35 feet. True boon-docking, no amenities, including no water source readily available, within the BLM property. Dusty in the summer months, and rattlesnakes are present on the property, so don't wander into the longer grasses without proper attire. Very nice off-road facility if you are toy hauling an ATV, dirt bike or dune buggy, incredible light shows from the nighttime riders, far enough from town to stargaze, near enough to use the public library, pick up perishables, or dining out. Just a few miles from Makoshika State Park, which has developed campsites ( requires reservations & fee ), most famous for their dinosaur fossils, the BLM property is a great free alternative if you are prepared for boon-docking it.

We spent a night here on our way through. It was busy when we arrived Saturday at 4:00 with only one spot left, but mostly cleared out by nightfall with only one other group spending the night.
We parked on the left side of the lot near the sign. Not level but workable. Sounds of off-road vehicles could be heard well into the evening but was quiet overnight and in the morning as we were leaving.
Pit toilet available but we didn’t use it. No other amenities. Beautiful scenery with a lot of off-roading trails. Easy to get to south of Glendive, lot is on the right.
Mosquitos were plentiful and we saw no other wildlife while we were there. Hot during the day, cool overnight.
Verizon signal was at 2 bars of LTE. Not great but enough to check email.
We’ll definitely stay here again if we need a place to sleep for the night.

We enjoyed our stay here. Good cell service, nice view. There is a pit toilet, but we didn’t use it. No garbage or other amenities.
A little noisy from people dirt biking, but that’s to be expected when you camp at an off road area. We enjoyed watching them.

It’s free! Make sure you bring firewood. Atv trails everywhere so be aware of that. Beautiful scenery! There is a vault toilet at the beginning of it. Cell service is spotty for Verizon and AT&T depending upon where you are. Overall we really enjoyed here and would stay again!

It’s free!!! It’s a beautiful scenery!! There are tons of ATV trails out there so be aware of that! There is a vault toilet at the beginning when you first come in. No firewood so make sure you bring your own. No water or any amenities. When it got dark it was quiet. The sun goes down it goes down quick and the temperature can drop quite a bit. Verizon & AT&T service can be spotty depending upon where you are. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would stay again!

We were so grateful to find this spot when Makoshika was full and it was getting dark. There’s been tons of rain so the gravel lot had lots of puddles and quite a bit of mud, but that also meant it was nice and quiet with no ATVs around, so we enjoyed the birds and the beautiful sunset and sunrise.

Great for rv boondocking. Can accommodate big rigs. Ours is 40+ ft. We were the only camper there. It can get busy on the weekends with atvs and loud music until 4am but it didn’t bother us much. Nice scenic drive to get there from i95.

The views were great and I’m happy we stayed here. We were in a 31’ RV towing a Jeep and had no problem. I unhooked the Jeep and rode some of the trails. There were only 3 other campers at the main location. There were a couple of travel trailers at a second location just up the gravel road but those locations didn’t look as accessible for an RV. This is an OHV area so there’s noise until late and one night some guys in a loud truck came and were pretty noisy. But overall, it was a great location and pretty sunsets. There’s a vault toilet here. If you bring OHVs you have to register/pay. I’d definitely stay here again and would love to stay longer and ride more.

Access is great on paved road, parking area is pretty level and gravel. Only 1 other trailer here on a Saturday night. Vault toilet in area. Dry camping. We pulled in with 41 ft 5th wheel and plenty of room to maneuver. Only 4 stars because dry camp. Close to Makoshika State Park.

Stayed on a Wednesday in August traveling home from OR. No one else was there, vault toilet, gravel lot (wouldn’t put a tent here). Was worried this could be a party spot for the local kids and was almost proved to be right. Some cars came in around 1030pm blasting music and doing donuts, then they left. Would stay again but kind of far from help if you need it, would have felt more comfortable with other campers there.
