Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on April 27, 2024We were here in March, just a few days after they opened. We were given a reduced rate because the water hadn't been turned on at the campsites and all the comfort stations were still closed.
The waterfront sites are perfection, you're close to the water and a short walk away from the beach. Of course, my review is skewed because there was only one other camper there. I'm sure in the summer it's not as quietly pleasant.
The park the safe, clean and quiet. It's right across the street from the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, and the state park has its own pieces of Lincoln history as well. The town of Santa Claus is nearby, we only stopped by for petrol, but it looks kind of interesting.
Overall, we loved our stay. We would definitely come back here, especially in the summer to enjoy the lake a little more. (But we thoroughly enjoyed our quiet loner camping too.)

We selected this campground because it is adjacent to the Lincoln Boyhood Home National Historic Site. In fact, the state of Indiana gave the Boyhood Home site to the Park Service. We had a peaceful stay; the bathhouse was clean, showers were comfortably warm. My only complaint would be that the site have little privacy. This was not an issue for us as the campground was only about @1/3 capacity; at a busy time that might be a concern. We were here at the beginning of October 2017.

I camped here with my parents 55 years ago. Finally got back. Camped in my Teardrop and loved it. Beautiful, clean, quiet, wooded, shady, with a Lincoln Memorial across the road that is well worth stopping at.

We stopped here for the weekend and found it very nice. We got an ADA site so there was adequate space for our rig.
Bathrooms are nice. Typical state park showers. Lots of stalls.
We sadly didn’t get to explore the actual state park since such a short stay. We went to nearby town (Santa Claus) and went to Holiday World.
Only con was the distance to the water spigot. Thankfully we had multiple hoses.
Clean sites, most are gravel and level.

Typical of all Indiana state parks this one was very clean. Restrooms were some of the cleanest we have seen. It was completely full for the weekend and all weekends in October they close the camp road from 1630-1830 for trick or treating I believe.
Verizon cell service was 1-2 bars and able to hold video calls.
Site 007 was very uneven, to the point the coach front tires had to blocked up as jacks extended.
It was noisy on the Saturday night however that was expected with all the Halloween stuff and kids.

We love this park! Due to the time of year, the campground was practically abandoned. We enjoyed the peace & quiet. The weather was perfect for hiking & enjoying the campfire. The bath house was open & was very clean! There are two frost free water faucets available.

I forgot to look on Campendium and other review sites, and discovered on arrival (weird 5pm check-in time on Sundays, too) that there was NO T-mobile service and other providers are weak. Our fault -- we hadn't arranged our lives to be out of touch for five days.
Pretty stiff cancellation policy, too.
Pretty place though. Very narrow paved roads. Spacious sites. The electric post was in the usual place, but the water connection was 60 feet on the passenger side of the site.

We stayed here July 23-24, 2022. Electric at site, water 50' away but reached it with a 50' hose, dump on the way out. Site was almost level, needed 1 inch on the Anderson Blocks. Big park with lots of sites but pretty spread out. Did not feel crowded. Great lake access, should have put in the kayak but didn't. Several trails to hike and we rode our bikes around the paved roads quite a bit. Visited the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial across the street and it was very interesting. This would be a great place to stay with kids for a few days.

Very nice campground, friendly staff and next to NPS Abraham Lincoln Boyhood Home Memorial. Lots of Ranger programs and beautiful amphitheater. Didn't use the bathrooms, but they look well kept. spacious sites as said in other reviews. We have a we-boost and got 3 bars on Verizon (visible) and T-Mobile wifi. No problem with streaming and internet service.

Closest park to Owensboro. If you love Lincoln this is a must do. Nice beach on a small lake but adequate. Canoe and kayak and paddle boats to rent. Sites are not very private and a bit packed in. $30 plus got to pay for park entry for one day. No cell service. No decent biking except on the roads.
