Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 14, 2021This is a beautiful, wonderful place to camp! I had a full hookup and the price was very reasonable. The river runs right by the camp and it is so peaceful and relaxing. Every site has a picnic table and fire pit with a barbecue grill. Swings and hammocks are available to use! While I was there, there was firewood available to use. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful. Another great advantage is the closeness of stores, restaurants, and gas stations. A hospital is nearby. I highly recommend this campground!!! I will definitely be back!

Top notch site next to river and small WV towns. Owner is really terrific and he is finishing a new shower and laundry facility (log cabin style) that should be ready within a year. He even brought us firewood!

We stayed here to try a different part of the Elk River out on our kayaks. This part of the Elk made us feel as if we were trespassing in people's backyards. There was a busy road always on one side or another, The river had a lot of debris and some parts with swift currents and some (but not too much) white water. The campground itself was very clean. The site had a great square picnic table, electric, water, a fire ring and a garbage can. The shower house is built but not ready to use until next year, but there are very clean port-a-johns located by a very nice pavilion. We drove our truck to the Sutton Damn and kayaked backed to camp. It only took us a little over 2 hours but we took our time. When we arrived the campground owner came down and gave my husband a ride back to the damn to get our truck. They did not charge for this service and I am not sure they really have thought about offering it on a regular basis but it was greatly appreciated. We did give them $10 for their time / gas. (25 minutes round trip). The owners were always available and always friendly and helpful. There were storms to be coming in our second night and the park owner came around to let us know that we were welcome to make use of the pavilion for camp it the weather got bad. It did not but the offer was greatly appreciated. There was morning noisy starting around 8am from what we guess is some sort of lumber yard but that was not a deal breaker. All in all we were happy with our visit and look forward to visiting again next year to see everything that this wonderful couple have done with the campground.

This is a campground in development. That doesn’t mean it’s a mess or lacking in any way. The owners are super nice. We had a large gravel pad in their upper campground across a nice sized, well-maintained field from the river. There’s a rope swing and picnic tables and you can tell they have big plans for this place. We had full hook-ups available to us but only used the water and 50 amp electric because we stayed one night on our way to Texas. Would definitely stay here again and can’t wait to see what the owners have planned.

The owner was super helpful and friendly. He met us right off the exit to lead us in and help us get set up and level. Campground is very clean, spots are level, with fire pit and picnic table. There are two separate campgrounds. We were at the lower campground at the first site, so we had an extra grassy area on our side. You’ll find hammocks and swings right on the river and also river access to drop in and kayak. We rented kayaks from Elk River Paddle & Yak and did a 5 hour kayaking trip down the Elk River. Very peaceful and relaxing weekend.

Great place to stop. Mark is the best host ever! Met us off the interstate and led us in. The sites are pretty. Wish we had our tubes/kayaks and could spend more days. We will be back. Dollar General with in 3 min and ~10min. I could see this being a great family destination.

Campground was well marked for access. I called the owner Mark once we got there and he met us at the site. Great guy! They have two campground sections, we were in the Bear Creek section. Swings, hammocks and a place to launch your kayaks or tubes. They were in the process of constructing a laundry and bathhouse. It’s going to look great. I had phone service, but could not pick up WiFi with our hotspot.

Last minute choice to camp here and were not disappointed. Mark is so very helpful (call ahead for his directions - Do Not Use your GPS!).
Pros: Full hookups, quiet spot, close to river, lots of hammocks and on the river's edge for relaxing, the lower campground has the benefit of every site looking towards the river. Gassaway, Flatwoods & Sutton were nearby to explore.
Cons: Gravel sites, not quite level. Long single-lane gravel road to the lower campground.
Overall, we would stay here again.

So were passing through and decided it was time to stop for the night, as I had a conference call I needed to be on…. Ummm we hit the jackpot. We are tucked back in the trees down by a river .. and we still have power and water, and 3 bars of service on AT&T.
This place is beautiful… and when it is done it is gonna be a fantastic vacation spot. Mark could not have been nicer, or more helpful. The bath house is under construction… but the pride of ownership is so so obvious, and I can already see it os going to be amazing. Super excited to stop here again.
