When Harry Perau was just twenty years old, he opened Thunder Island as a Go-Kart track. In 1987 he expanded by designing and building Jungle Golf, which is the largest 18-hole mini-golf course in New York State. "I redesigned the 19th hole three times before pouring any concrete," laughs Perau. At his wife Tammie's suggestion, Harry added the water slides to Thunder Island in 1997 and in 2001 they added a major water attraction, Thunder Rush, an extreme body slide that challenges the bravest water lovers! And in 2005 a Lazy River was added to satisfy those who wanted to do nothing more than relax in the great outdoors! Thunder Island was designed for families who wanted a place for everyone to enjoy – with a variety of wet and dry activities to thrill the youngest to the oldest visitors. A place where parents could relax and enjoy the day as much as their children!

My kids love it here! Great place to visit in the summer to have fun and relax. I love how close it is for us and the price is reasonable. Great variety for fun for all ages. Worth the trip!! Read more
