I was actually on my way to Luray Caverns when I saw signs for Skyline Caverns. I was coming from the DC area and honestly still had a while to go to get to Luray and was stir crazy in the car. After checking their flawless reviews on trip advisor my friend and I decided to check it out. It was absolutely breath-taking. The caverns have narrow paths and our kept as natural as possible, so wear good shoes! I like the authenticity of the caverns, no hand rails, very few man made path, the only man made items were of course the lights. Our tour guide, Jeff was fantastic he knew the caves inside and out including the rare crystal anthrodites. The tour was also a very small group. Only 4 of us which was nice.

Also the gift shop is one of the best I've ever seen. Everything was reasonably priced and it was full of everything imaginable.

The caves are a must see. Well worth my trip out there.

This is a great cave to visit! Much of it left natural. The high ceilings, curved walls, pools and streams make it an amazing visit. Famous for the Valentine beetle which is found no where else, it was discovered and made extinct in the same day; and the many rare anthodites, including the largest known in the world. Pretty cool.

Lovely caverns with large parking spaces and gift shop. Guide Ethan was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour takes about an hour. None of the chambers or passages feel cramped.

Really fun and interesting experience! We stopped in about an hour after they opened on Saturday and bought tickets for the tour. Tours run every twenty minutes, so we didn't wait long - just enough time to use the restroom and do a once-over of the gift shop. The caves are beautiful, and while they're lit with colored lights, it's done in such a way that it only enhances the experience. Our tour guide was full of information about the history and geology of the caves, and presented it in a pun way. The walk through is fairly easy, although there are some steeper areas, with handrails. There is a set of stairs at the end of the tour. The path is well maintained and evened out with fine gravel. It was about 54 degrees in the caves when we toured. The rooms with the anthracite were really neat, and it was exciting to hear how they were discovered and to see something so rare. The gift shop has a lot of neat stones and geodes, as well as other cave related merchandise.

We got fogged out at Shenandoah, so this was an unscheduled visit, but we enjoyed it very much. The formations are not as spectacular as Luray, but made up for by the extremely rare anthodites which I had never seen before. Well worth a visit just to see those. They are only known to exist in 3 places.
