Mountain Springs Motel & Apartments

This is the first negative review I've ever left for a lodging before. After reading other's positive reviews, I was looking forward to our trip. I'm well aware that motels are very simple. I was not expecting anything fancy. I did however expect the room to honor what the ad about the motel said. This one did not. In addition, communication from the motel staff to me, as the customer was nonexistent. I arrived around 5 pm on Saturday in the pouring rain. The front desk lady was standing at the side door, so I went through that door with her to check in. She was about to leave and stated they now closed at 5 on weekends, so she thought we weren't coming. I apologized and explained that I had not been told that. I'd only been told to notify them if we were going to be arriving after 8 pm. She said they had just changed it. She gave us the key and we headed to our room. Overall it was pretty clean. There were some crickets, but otherwise no bugs. The ad said they had cable. They did not. They had Roku, but it kept going out. I wouldn't have written a negative review just for these situations however. My main complaints were that the ad said climate controlled with heat and air year round. When we walked in the room, it was stifling. I kept playing with the thermostat, trying to cool it off. Nothing worked. We tried it for a while and it was just too sticky and muggy, even with the window open. I ended up having to go get a fan. Now I'm stuck with a fan I dont need all because there wasn't AC. Then, my daughter went to plug something into the outlet and a spark shot out. We immediately unplugged it. That was very concerning to me. It did not feel safe. In addition to that, I later heard a whirring sound. At first I thought it was someone's phone on vibrate. It turned out it was coming from that same outlet. I immediately unugged the lamp that was plugged in there.
Before we left the next day, I went to talk to someone in the office about our concerns, but there was nobody there. Upon my return home, I contacted them about my concerns. There was no offer for restitution, not even an apology. All I got were excuses for why they were not doing what was advertised and they kept asking if I had reported it that night, despite the fact that I explained nobody was there to tell. I'm told there was a phone number on the front door, but I never saw it because the front desk lady led me through the side door. That information should be in every room in case there is a problem. It is not.Even worse, though, they acted as if they did not believe me regarding the concerns about the electrical outlet. They didn't even offer to check it out and make sure it was okay. So, I will not be returning there to stay and I will not recommend this establishment to any of my friends traveling through there due to their inability to honor their advertisement and their total lack of concern for their patrons.
