Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on September 05, 2023Very basic park. If you go here you need to know that you have to check in at the gas station. I had a teardrop camper so it wasn't a big deal to turn around and go down there. But it might be a pain if your in a big rig. But the gas station had plenty of cold beer and is attached to a bar and a liquor store. Plenty of stores and restaurants in the area.
Very nice. Quiet. Make sure you get the physical directions. GPS isn't accurate. And you do have to register at the gas station before the turn.
We we're in town to visit family and it was Memorial Day Weekend with NASCAR too so we were happy to get something. Fairly typical of KOA's so some amenities like pool and playground but pretty packed in together. Surprised how quiet it was at night with all the people. Bathrooms were clean and there's laundry. You can walk to groceries. There's also a gas station and cafe. Free wi-fi for what it's worth!
Nightly rate was with KOA discount on weekday.

First, let me start out by saying we are new to RVing and this was our first experience with a KOA. Until recently we always car camped at a state or national park.
But since we recently got a new trailer we decided to give a practice run and to determine if we might be able to work part time from the road. In these respects the Ft. Mill KOA did what we were trying to accomplish.
However, since we weren't hauling a trailer full of kids the pool while a nice perk was largely wasted on us. Which gets me into what I didn't like about our experience. At twice the price and half the space for what you get in a state or national park I was disappointed with the facilities.
Our site required us to raise one side of the trailer approximately 4" to get roughly level. The water pressure started off weak and actually cut off entirely for several hours for the whole campground and was still very weak when it did come back on. The dumpsters were overflowing by the third day and one of the two bath houses was closed "for renovations". The Wi-Fi didn't have any security and was a little slow.
I will say the one bath house that was open was quite clean which was nice. Additionally, the staff was friendly and helpful with any questions we had.
Maybe it's just my lack of experience with KOA's in general but it felt more like a parking lot than a campground. There wasn't a fire ring, picnic table for each site or enough room to setup a hammock so I doubt I will be using KOA much in the future if this is the norm.

PROs
- Convenient location.
- Cabins are clean and up to date.
- Lots are level for the most part.
- Surprisingly quiet given location.
- Pool, putt putt golf, and small playground.
- Grocery store, package store within walking distance.
- Pet friendly with a pet area.
- Staff is very friendly and professional.
- Carowinds 10 minutes away.
- Canaan Zipline Tours 20 minutes away.
CONs
- Lots do not have fire ring but you're allowed to build a fire. I kind of see that as a potential safety concern.
- Lots are small compared to other camp grounds.
- Not a true family camp ground given the are no scheduled activities, no game room.
- Deluxe cabins are attached so you can hear visitors next door while inside the cabin.
- People ignore the no pets allowed sign in the pool and park area.
- The pool area has only 2 tables; one has an umbrella. We counted only 14 chairs.
- The "grill" that is supplied to the cabins is a charcoal type grill you would see in state park. It's not a propane grill.
- You can't get propane refills at this camp ground.
- Wifi is free but get slow

We stayed here for 5 nights. Sites we not the leveset but the camper did auto level. Electrical was good 50 amps. Water pressure was good. No cable at our site. Campers were packed and close. There was a convenient store, restaurant and Amazon Hub within walking distance. They keep the campground clean and the bath houses have a digital lock and clean. Good hot water for about 10 mins. They did have premium sites with concrete pads but none available the dates we needed. But overall it was a good campground not so quite but it would be good for a few days. It is close to hwy77.

We booked at a time when not many sites were available for 35' fifth wheel. So this was one of the deluxe sites with a concrete pad. The paved road to site 136 was pretty rough / bumpy as it was disintegrating. Site 136 was absolutely level - a plus. The entrance road into the KOA registration parking lot is immediately after you pass the Exxon gas station. They have a tiny office off the parking area for check in, and after hours they will leave your information on a bulletin board at that office. This isn't really a destination campground - it is perfect for a quick stop over, however, but quite expensive. (Price is after the KOA discount)

Stayed beginning of Nov 2021. Catching up on reviews.
Site type: Back-in FHU 50 AMP
Would stay again mainly because there aren't many other campgrounds nearby.
THE GOOD
Site: Gravel sites with grass living areas. Pretty good space between sites (backed up a bit close to other though).
Grounds: Clean.
Staff: Very nice people.
Pet area: Nice grass spot to walk pups.
Local: Lots of things to do and gas/groceries/food minutes away.
THE BAD:
Sites: The back of sites kind of overlap so when people might be camping, it sounds like they are camping in your living space, which is kind of strange when in your own rig.
Noise: The campground shares a fence with a neighborhood and the neighborhood oddly had fireworks for about 1 hour and a half ever night during our 7-day stay. It was Nov, so I can not understand why there were fireworks in the neighborhood.
Noise: In addition, the local amusement park (Carowinds) has their own fireworks every night but only for 10 min at a time.

Staff was nice and extremely helpful. Pick up trash every morning. Full hookups. Easy to get in and out. A bit noisy due to being in the line of planes landing at the airport.
Close sites, but good for short stays. We will use again.
