Great museums about early times (after L&C) plus some of the old fort. Great story about an old sheepherding dog and his master. The town loves and lives its past.
This place was run down. The main part of the campground consisted of a gravel, grass and weed space between two dirt roads, with no fencing or privacy. Campsites were delineated by landscape timbers. Back-to-back pairs of campers were very close, and had to share a water spigot. There were two or three more sites on the other side of the office, which shared their space with a derelict travel trailer and a guy working on an old van. Then there was one more site perched right at the intersection of two roads, separated from the rest of the property by trees. The owner was very welcoming, but she allowed a dog to jump on the counter while I was checking in.
There was a flour mill next door, which hummed and occasionally clattered from early in the morning until well into the evening, with double-trucks of wheat coming and going regularly.
Verizon 4G was 4 bars, -89 dB, 12-25 Mbps down and 7 up.
Although the campground was in a poor state, the little town of Fort Benton was very quiet and attractive, and there was plenty to occupy myself for a week sightseeing around here and in Great Falls 38 miles away.

We spent 2 nights here. They were chip and sealing the streets when we got to the rv park. Easy to find. We had the private spot #20/21. Water pressure was the best we’ve had so far. The host was very helpful and friendly. While our spot was by the street - it felt very private and safe. The bathroom and shower were clean. Good rv site - needs some gravel perhaps at the other sites - but all in all not a bad place for the price and location.

Benton RV Park in Fort Benton Montana is run by a very nice lady. The restrooms and showers are very clean. Those are the only nice things I can say about this place.
They have a full page of rules and regulations with threats of eviction if not obeyed. Fear not though none were enforced. This is what lead us to depart early.
One of there rules is to respect the campsites of others and not short cut through them. The other rule that we took issue with is children under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Our campsite was overrun by a group of 6 kids. Playing and cutting through the entire time we stayed there. We had kids outside our camper door in our campsite the entire time we were there. We couldn't sit outside and enjoy our picnic table for the kids toys and their constant running back and forth.
We found the photos on Benton RV Park website very deciving. They must have been very old. They depict green grass and well spaced RV's. The reality is dead brown grass and being so close to your neighbor it's more a parking lot located in an area where the houses across
The street ends at an industrial like area.
So if you have children you want to let run wild and you don't mind everyone cutting through your campsite this place is for you. Otherwise stay away.
