A convenient place with open sites on Memorial Day weekend, close to Winnebago factory and Lichtsinn RV. We are here to service our RV, really nothing else to recommend this park. Next to a stream with a small dam, no swimming or wading. Cool bridge over stream that only goes to golf course. Walking/biking trail through park and two playgrounds. No privacy between sites, trees in middle provide some shade. Shower house and flush toilets. Good for an overnight but not a long stay. Stream was high, dirt/gravel roads and pads, very wet. No host or monitoring.
we were stopped at Winnebago for some work that we needed done but it was the weekend of their annual company picnic and all campers in the rally grounds needed to move. We moved a day early to secure a nice spot and left for days later having enjoyed our time there. It was crowded and most spots were taken but there are many treed sites, we were in the second to last site which is a pull through and has no trees but our awning kept the school. This was early September. While there is not a lot of privacy between the sites they are positioned in such a way that you are not peering into your neighbor's windows nor are you having to listen to their noises. The stream with the golf course behind it is very pretty and the walking/biking trail goes for white quite a while through the Winnebago rally grounds and beyond. It's a very nice tree. The water and dump are at the entrance to the campground and the water is very good. Electric is 30 or 50 + 20. You are across the street from two gas stations and the high v supermarket. There is a small coffee shop also across the street. The town sports field is there so on Friday nights you may hear games going on but other than that we found it very quiet. In fact the only negative was that some of the young show-offs from the town feel it necessary to drive faster than the ten mile per hour speed limit and when it has been dry the road is Dusty and kicks up dust. Other than that our stay was extremely enjoyable, we even made several new friends.
Varsity is a nice town with several very good restaurants, and it's within an hour's drive to places like the Spam Museum in Austin Minnesota, or the many different things to do in clear Lake or Mason City Iowa.
We selected the pull through spot and it fits our 43’ + car trailer just fine.
Electric only.
There is a new dump as you enter/exit the park.
The community walks, runs, fishes, drives around the park. So be warned there is a LOT of traffic.
We are the only campers and lucked into a November day of 76°. The golf course is beautiful and so is the river.
Our site was fairly level.
We recommend Borderline Pizza, Sally’s for breakfast, Ay Jalisco for lunch. We took a day trip to Clear Lake and Mason City and highly recommend Rib Crib.
We are here during the pandemic and masks are really about hit and miss at businesses and restaurants.
First night here in our new camper. Easy to get to, nice sites. Has two playgrounds for kids and nice walking trails. First come first serve and no reservations here.
Beautiful small campground, electric only but potable water and sump station. Shower house is serviceable, just painted and new rain shower heads!
Views and wildlife are amazing: geese, deer.
Dumpster at end of road. Lots of walking trails and yes quite a bit of traffic.
I arrived and filled out my form and picked my own spot. The park is beautiful and clean. Quite a few geese wanting your attention. This is a county park that l would return to.
