“19th century fort & beach”
A part of the park system since 1935, Fort Clinch is one of the most well-preserved 19th century forts in the country. Although no battles were fought here, it was garrisoned during both the Civil and Spanish-American wars. During the 1930s, the Civilian Conservation Corps began preserving and rebuilding many of the structures of the abandoned fort. Daily tours with period reenactors depicting garrison life bring the fort to life for visitors. Sunbathing, swimming, and beachcombing are popular activities at the beach. Anglers can fish from the pier or take advantage of excellent surf fishing. Hikers and bicyclists can enjoy a six-mile trail through the park. Self-guided nature trails provide opportunities to learn about and observe native plants and wildlife. A full-facility campground and a youth camping area provide overnight accommodations.

We had a beautiful walk at the Fort Clinch State Park!!! Nearly a mile long, the pier felt a great place to spend some time at.
Loads of people were fishing, and it felt bad not having the fishing equipment with us.
We visited the fort and it was very educational! The fort is kept in a good condition and its worth visiting as the entrance fee is affordable.
This is one of my favorite state parks. There are so many options and you can make a day out of it. Uncrowded beaches and fishing are among my favorites.
This will be our first stop on our trip to Maine. Looking forward to what we will discover.
There aren't many campsites so you're lucky to grab one. We were tent camping but were disappointed that the sites were small, had no tree coverage, and were shaped like holding pens. I would book an RV spot, even you only have a tent. It's closer to the showers and offers a great view of the Atlantic Ocean.
The pier is now gone, failing during hurricane Matthew. Still some great surf fishing to be had and many local guides available.
Great history site. Our kids loved Camping and roaming around the fort.
