Site was easy to back into, concrete pad for camper, sites were large but right across from each other.
Was some helicopter noise but not too bad, most of the noise was from vehicle traffic.
Facilities were good, hot showers, laundry room.
Staff was helpful and courteous.
Didn’t spend any time at what looks to be a very nice lake and picnic area.

Of course you need to be Active, Retired, Reserve Military in order to stay here. So, if you're used to helicopters flying over without any PTSD, then you'll feel at home. Gravel road entrance to the actual camp, fair down-grade & then up, watch the one-ways. We stayed down by the lake which has no sewer only water & electric. There is a dump station, however it is back up the hill where the cabins, bathhouses & full hookup sites are located. It is also a challenging location at the top right next to one of the bathhouses and you will block either the road or parking for the bathhouse. If there are any vehicles in parking then you'll either block them or the road. In any case a bad location for a dump station - they should have it all the way back to the entrance where Bldg Q-2922 is. We were there off-season, the lake is not opened until Memorial Day. Lots of wildlife, Ft Bragg has good Commissary & PX and Fayetteville has plenty of shopping/re-provisioning such as Walmart, Tractor Supply, etc. Of course the 82nd Airborne & JFK Spec Warfare Museum's are not to be missed on base. If you're into Botanical Gardens, Fayetteville has the Cape Fear Botanical Garden.

We decided to take our travel trailer out of mothballs two weekends ago to sanitize the water system and check out all the appliances and lights. Since we store our trailer on Pope Army Airfield it was only a few miles to the Smith Lake Army Travel Camp. For $28 we were able to park on a level concrete pad with full hookups to fill our fresh water tank with bleach solution, run it through the plumbing, and let it stand overnight. The next morning we drained and rinsed it all into the sewer. We also checked out the A/C and the microwave on shore power.
Smith Lake is located off of Honeycutt Road about a mile and a half south; there are small signs designating the turn. For those who have camped here before, the layout has changed and check in/out is done in a large gray building near the old beach across from the picnic areas [NOT Bldg. Q-3250 as depicted in the MWR webpage]. We did not stay in the trailer overnight, so we did not inspect the bath house or laundry, or check for internet access. The roads into the campsite are gravel and threw up a lot of dust, but the spaces in the full hookup, upper circle, are level concrete with adequate space between.
The main post is roughly seven miles west, where one can visit the two Commissaries and PX's. There are several gas stations and shopettes, the nearest of which is located four miles away on east post, just off Honeycutt Road.
If we needed to camp in the Fayetteville area this is probably the place we would choose.
