The Coonamessett

The Coonamessett Inn is comprised of five separate buildings (a fifth was added in the 1950s to house military personnel during the Korean War) . The main building, the former Jones residence, boasts three distinct dining rooms where some 150 wedding receptions are held every year. The remaining buildings house guest rooms and suites.  The Cape Cod function room is a premier and elegant room featuring beautiful brass chandeliers, and Colonial dining room furniture. Offering full bar service and an expansive dance floor. Decorated with Cape Cod charm and warmth that the Coonamessett Inn has always featured.  The Cahoon Room is perhaps the most famous of the three dining areas. Named for Ralph Cahoon, a renowned local Folk artist, the room features 18 Cahoon paintings. Many of which, in turn, feature the Inn itself. High vaulted and beamed ceilings give the Cahoon Room dramatic appeal while the traditional country decor in hues of hunter green and mauve lend a certain warmth and comfort. The focal point of the room is the overhead lighting fixtures which are magnificent hot air balloons crafted of brass and copper. The balloons reflect another key theme in Cahoon's work and add considerable visual interest to the space.
