Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on August 26, 2023The Fairgrounds in Fallon weren’t accepting reservations due to an event. So rather than staying at a casino parking lot, we decided to stay at Fallon Naval Air Station.
First of all, making the reservation was easy over the phone. Even though we weren’t told we had to enter through the South Gate, because of seeing some other reviews, we knew that is what we should do. Upon arriving at the South Gate, we found it unmanned, gated, and locked. We had to call the MWR Office to ask how to get in. They said they would call the Security to come to the gate to open and let us through, which they did.
After some confusing directions on getting to the Fam Camp, we arrived. We had to park our rig on the grounds and then walk 3 blocks to the MWR Community Center to register in. After walking back to the campground, we parked in our assigned space, finding the power pole to be locked. We had to call again to ask someone to unlock the power.
The parking area is a gravel lot with concrete pads. No grass, trees, or shade. You will occasionally hear the “sounds of freedom. “
The facility does have a building that has some nice clean restrooms, showers, and laundry, even an ironing board and an iron. There is also a small library.
If you need diesel, buy it in Fallon before you come to the base. There is no diesel sold here.
All in all, there were some hassles in staying here, but you can have most of your necessities.
