“take a stroll along the river”
The preferred campground in Fairbanks with beautiful views of Chena River. Set up camp at one of our large and easy access pull-through full-hookup sites and take some time to relax or explore the Interior of Alaska or recover from having conquered the ALCAN Highway. We also have a few sites for Our RV park between Fairbanks and North Pole is only 2 hours from Denali Nat'l. Park and the base for a trip to the Arctic Circle. Lots to explore in the Fairbanks area, such as taking a narrated Riverboat cruise on the Chena River, finding out more about gold mining at Gold Dredge8, visiting the Alaska Pipeline viewpoint, soaking in warm Chena Hot Springs, visiting Pioneer Park with a mouth-watering Salmon Bake dinner and show, learning more at the Museum of the North in Fairbanks, or visiting Santa Claus House in the North Pole. Take a trip to the Arctic Circle, only 200 miles Northwest from us. If Dalton Highway up to Prudhoe Bay and tipping your toes in the Arctic Ocean is on your bucket list, we can help you with parking your RV at our overflow parking area while you tackle that adventure with your truck or SUV.Plan for a lazy day at the campground - sit and relax at the patio by the river, play some outdoor games, such as horseshoes, corn hole, giant Jenga and 4-in-a-row, let your pets run in our 2'400 sq ft dog park, or enjoy one of our propane fire pits while watching beautiful sunsets - but be advised - you may need to stay up late for that.If you plan on staying at least 30 days, inquire for our extended stay and monthly or seasonal rates. We have limited space available - book early. Check for more information. Can they be seen at our campground? As we are relying on nature, there is no guarantee that you will be able to see the Northern Lights during your trip in Alaska. Between May 21st and August 21st there is too much light at night, so this natural beauty can't be seen. But if you are staying in our area before or after these dates, you have a chance - with some patience and long nights.Fairbanks / Chena River KOA welcomes you to the Interior of Alaska!

Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on July 19, 2022We have been staying at territory and state campgrounds for over a month so were expecting to trade off our privacy and views for hookups and laundry facilities. Riverview met our expectations.
Both access to the campground and the check in process were very easy and enjoyable. There is a free RV/car wash area on site - very basic - hose with good water pressure - which was very welcome after a month of driving. Some people had brought their own soap and brushes but we were able to remove most of the dirt with just the hose.
Sites are very close together but there is room for a picnic table between each. It is a very popular campground for caravans - there were 3 the first two nights we were here. Sites vary in length - but any size rig can be accommodated - there was a Prevost here for a couple of days. There is also a tenting area.
Although you can hear traffic noise during the day, I didn’t notice any at night.
The laundry facilities were great. The area was large & clean, there were more dryers than washers and only one machine was out of order. Plus, it was very reasonable - only $4 for both the wash & dry. You are given a key to the laundry so that it is available at any time of day.
It is outside of Fairbanks so driving is involved to all attractions - it is about 20 minutes to the Visitor Center. It took us about 1.5 hrs to go to Chena Hot Springs. Groceries, drug store and liquor store are about 15 minutes.
We had cell phone access (2 bars) and there is free WIFI. The speed varies depending on the time of day. Before 8 am it was great.

Nice campground, not a parking lot like many we have experienced. But not in Alaska for the campgrounds! Grass and trees.

New dog park, playground, deck area. One of the nicest KOAs I've seen. Lots of pull through sites. Nice area along the river. Opt for one of the sites farther from the road, 53 to 151.
