Confirmed by 11 users | Last reported on June 19, 2023Small (only 9 sites), newer campground about 20 minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Stone Mountain State Park in NC. We picked this as a good stopping point on our way to Shenandoah, and it was a lovely surprise. The site was the nicest we've ever had; very big and private, lots of separation between sites, and all of them in the main section back up to woods and a creek. There are a couple of pull through, full hook up sites, too, but they're 1/4 mile down the road. Ours was back-in, W/E. The bathhouse was across the street (not busy, but the cars that were on it were usually going too fast), but super clean and nice. Small campstore with hand dipped ice cream, and a tiny playground, but no other amenities to speak of. There's a 1.5 mile (each way) trail directly from the campground to a local winery and downtown Elkin is close by with more trails and some nice shops and restaurants.

I found this campground online and then on a car trip from Rock Hill to DC had the chance to stop and visit. It was raining the day I stopped but Sarah (owner) was in the camp store and we had a chance to talk and her tell me about the area. I looked over the grounds and new I would be back soon with my wife. It was a great setting, quiet and a place I felt we could refresh our souls. Two weeks later my wife and I drove up, camped and what I initially thought was true. It was a very relaxing weekend. If your looking for a lot of activity, things to do in the campground then this would not work for you. There are plenty of trails to hike, Elkin has a really nice downtown with shops and Stone Mtn. is close by. Sarah and Jerry (owners) have put together what I will call a retreat. Not big, not fancy but for us it was perfect. We will be back to camp here again.

Pros: Friendly and welcoming owners and staff; Lots of shade trees; Very well maintained; Clean; Fairly easy ingress and egress; Easy to find from the Highway (just follow the Blue and White signs!); Graveled and leveled sites; Good Power and Water Pressure; Beautiful nature trails; Close to Stone Mountain State Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway; On the Mountains-to-Sea Trail; Close to many vineyards and wine tasting rooms (one within walking distance); Quiet; Fire pits; Office sells delicious hand-dipped ice cream; Restroom/ Shower at Office was spotless and had excellent shower water pressure; Excellent WiFi; 10 minutes from town.
Cons: Only one Restroom/ Shower per gender. We did not mind that it was a short walk up the hill from the campsites to the shower, but some might not like the distance nor the moderate ascent so can choose to drive.
Notes: Small Park with 7 back-up sites, 7 pull-throughs, and 4 tent sites. Only the pull-throughs have sewer dumps. However, one can drive their rig to the dump station near the office anytime.
This Park may not have all of the amenities such as a pool, etc., but it is beautiful and perfect for hiking and vineyard access. It’s an ideal sit-around-the-campfire, watching fireflies, and sharing stories with your family and friends type of place.

This is a great small RV park. Several pull thrus, most with full hookups. And that's it. The 12 spacious sites are bordered by a farm and we could occasionally hear some mooing. We are here early in October and are one of 5 RVs in the park. The owners waited for us to arrive just before dark, they are available by cell phone if needed. The camp store is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Firewood available, just leave $ in envelope. If you don't need a sewer hookup, check out site 12, it faces a small patch of woods w the farm just beyond. There is a dump station, however it's across a country road and up a hill by the office. This is the place to be if you just want to have quiet. Byrd Branch feels very secluded, yet 3 miles from a Wal-mart super center. Excellent WiFi, close to I 77, we actually paid less overall than the daily rate as 7th night was free and a Good Sam discount. The back in sites are next to the woods, the pull thrus could use some bushes to create a more private feel. Clean, new and well maintained.

We are currently staying at Byrd’s Branch for the first time and will definitely be returning for future camping trips. Clean and well maintained campground. The owners are very friendly and make you feel at home. 7 of the campsites are right along a creek and fire pits are positioned by the creek. Large campsites for my toddler to roam. They offer WiFi and very reasonable nightly rates. The only small downfall for us is the proximity to the road there’s a little traffic noise, but not bad. Would highly recommend this campground.

This small quiet campground may not seem much, but it’s the cutest little spot! Close to town, several hiking trails including carter falls, and many wineries and vineyards. We visited 2 state parks while we were here which are within driving distance. Some sites are back in sites that back up to a little creek with fire rings tucked under the trees by the creek, some do not have sewer but there is a dump station across the street. The owners are very helpful and so nice, it was well worth staying here. Oh, cell service is not that good but there is free WiFi!

We stayed here great experience, owners very friendly and give out a lot of local information. Elkin close for shopping and restaurants. We had a nice back in site with lots of shade and stream. The dog loved the short walk to the water fall and we loved the winery’s, one that could be walked to over the fields. The store had a basics with ice and served large portions of ice cream and shakes. Clean bathrooms and shower. Well maintained camp ground.

This is a great place for a short term stay (not long term). The park is quiet, small, clean, and the staff are very friendly. We had LARGE amounts of fruit flies and stink bugs - partly due to the farm next door and partly due to the surrounding woods. It was a constant battle for the 2 weeks we were there, just to keep the bugs coming into the RV down to a minimum. (Note- we were there during hurricane Michael, and the rains could have amp'd up the bugs).
The park is well maintained, the spaces have large ares and you don't feel over crowded, but the site pads are a bit un-level, most of them have a high front to back slope. There is an extreme hill coming into and out of the park. Each of the sites along the river have really nice fire pit/picnic areas. The sites in the middle are super long and give you plenty of room for big rigs and extra cars. If its rainy season, choose a high spot in the middle, as the creek filled and almost came over the embankment and into camp.
The owners were very nice. They deliver wood to your site, they pick up trash at your site, they are always greeting you and checking in on you, and they clean and maintain the park every day.
They have free wifi, which works really well. Cell service is decent for the area. The camp store offers fire wood, ice, ice cream, and misc. The Super Walmart in Elkin is just 10 minutes away, and is very large and very nice. The town of Elkin is clean and offers several choices of restaurants, services, activities, etc.
Most of the campers are locals, and they were are ALL super friendly and treat you as one of their own. There is a trailhead just up the road from camp, that is a short 1/2 mile walk into the woods, to the local falls. Stone Mountain is only 20 minutes away, and has some of the best hiking trails we have seen.

The owners are super friendly and willing to help if needed. They have full and partial hook up as well as tent camping. We walked the tent grounds while we were there and they were very nice as well. EASY walking distance to beautiful falls. My husband was 4 weeks out from total hip replacement surgery and was able to make this walk with no problem. Everything was nice and clean. Our visit was short, however we did manage to make it to Dodge City Steakhouse (strongly recommended) and to Skull Camp Brewery for lunch on Sunday. Both were great food choices and only minutes from the campground. We thoroughly enjoyed our get away!
