“The Filming Location of Jaws”
A great family beach located between Oak Bluffs and Edgartown off Beach Road. The beach divides Sengekontacket Pond to the west from Nantucket Sound to the east. Calm waves and easy to reach on the bike paths. Parking on pavement along roadway. Lifeguards and picnic tables are located at the southern section known as "Bend-in-the-road-beach" in Edgartown. Clear, mild public beach along Beach Road between Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. It is easily accessible from the bike path which runs along its length. On a clear day, Cape Poge in Edgartown can be seen in the distance to your right and an outline of the Cape can be seen from certain vantage points. Cars may park along the beach front, keeping all tires on the pavement. The beach is mostly sandy though a line of pebbles and shells can be found at the high tide mark. Beach grass and rosa rogusa flourish along the perimeter. There are public changing rooms on the Oak Bluffs end of the beach, a lemonade stand is usually parked at the bridge over the inflow to Sengekontacket. On the far side of the Oak Bluffs/Edgartown town line the beach continues as simply as State Beach and includes Bend in the Road beach as it nears Edgartown. The area is also famous from the movie Jaws, as some of the beach scenes were filmed here.
