Nice place for a pit stop with well maintained toilets but there is a sign stating no camping. Close to road and rail road tracks so I imagine it would be a noisy spot if you disregarded the signage and stayed overnight. We stayed at a national forest site just a few miles down the road.
This rest stop is a “bit” off the freeway, pit toilets and trains across the highway.
We spent 2 nights here leaving on 9/16/21. This is a paved lot similar to a rest stop. There’re 2 pit toilets. It’s located next to the Summit Campground run by the Forest service. Summit charges $20 basically for a fire pit and a picnic table. One of the campsites is less than 15 yards from this parking lot. We spoke with a Forest Service employee, she said we could stay overnight but campfires were not allowed.
This is located at the southern end of Glacier NP. It’s about 18 miles to Two Medicine Lake entrance, 49 miles from West entrance and about 50 miles from St Mary’s entrance.
Each night we were there about 5 other vehicles joined us. Quiet place road noise diminishes after 9 pm. One can hear the train but it didn’t really bother us. Nice place to walk your dog.
I either couldn't find or couldn't access the other sites described in this area.
This is a simple parking lot, clean pit toilets, a few other campers, felt safe.
There was train noise however.
The road from East Glacier/Two Medicine is beautiful but not something you want to drive in a hurry or in bad conditions: it winds up into the mountains and there's a lot of cattle/deer.
Overall this was the very best in the area for me and will plan on staying here in the future. Other places in the area were very disappointing.
This is a rest stop. On one side is the more civilized area with a paved parking lot and a monument. On the other side it’s just a big gravel turnout of equal size. A ton of rigs could stay there overnight!
At night it got super quiet as no traffic goes by except the many long trains.
No cell reception but of course if you have Starlink, it will love the open sky.
Right next to the rest area is a small rustic campground.
No dumpstation there but there are a couple faucets located here and there. The faucets do not have a threaded end though, so you cannot fill up your RV tanks (plus they are located in such a way that the RV would block the road during fill up). So that water is good for filling jugs of water only.
